zk9 to zf6 in zero ds 2012
« on: June 01, 2015, 03:53:54 AM »

Hello
I've just joined to forum, but i've followed it moths ago..

We have recently buyed a zero ds 2012 ZF9 with km. 0.  Everything is fine , but I've dropped the bike at standstill twice... Ev erybody says it could have been because the EXCESS HEIGHT , but i think it is too heavier.. 155 Kg i'm not used to.. I've asked to mechanic to transform in ZF6 while extracting part of batteries in order to lose 25 Kg, more or less, but he has asked to zero in Holland and they say it is not advisable (seems BMS problems..)
I wonder if you have idea about that or any similar experience .. What do you recommend me?
Thank you very much

Can you sit on bike and have both feet on ground or balls of feet, I am short 165cm and 55kg and ride an SV 650S, but always wear steelcap boots or motorcycle boots, which gives me an extra height . If I don't have boots on it is more of a struggle to keep it balanced. Lowering the seat is possible there is a lot of room underneath and also making seat sides narrow helps. Contact zero there may even be a low height seat option. The weight you will get used to, your muscles will strength to handle it if you ride often enough, think you just need more time with the bike, often it takes time to adjust and not uncommon to drop a new bike.

The Corbin seat that Zero sells is about 2" lower. I use it even though I'm tall because in off road riding I want to be able to put my feet down solidly on the ground when necessary.

Thank you very much for replying
I've buyed corbin seat as you say and changed to zero s rear cushion (adapting forward as well to mantain geometry..). Now its about 3 inches lower.. I hope it is enough. I will experience and try to ride often without droppping..

I do apreciate your comments. Would have liked ant suggestions about changing bateries , but I suppose it is too much difficult to recommend about that because of the lack of experience..
If anybody has a ZF6 with less than 500 Km. (ZF9 mine has 12 Km) and wants to interchange battery , we could agree..remembering it is 2012 DS

Thanks a lot again

Changing batteries is a big job and easy to get something wrong, changing seat is quick and easy, bigger battery is more range, you may not think need it now but when you do you be thankful. :) Good Luck
