I guess you get what you pay for.  With the KTM you get nice build quality and not much performance and range (or an on-board charger).  With the Zero you get performance and range and so-so build quality and chassis performance (and can charge up anytime you can find a 120V outlet).

Yes but in motorcycling, brand is king. So it will sell much better than the FX let alone the old MX.

Handling is also very important to motorcycling, especially offroad.  So the supposedly better handling on the KTM will be a big deal, not just for the name sake.  Probably some buyers will do just for name though.  Reliability is another huge thing for offroad because you might have to push a long ways to get back if it fails to run.  Or worse if there is just 1 little steep loose hill, then you couldn't even push it up.  Breaking down in the trails is big trouble.  It does seem like KTM is years back from zero in the range area.  More range opens the bike up to more people.  I think KTM is pretty limited now to who can buy.  I think 50 miles of trail is minimum.  I want to demo ride one.
