When I compare the pictures of these brands, they look very similar with their yellow cover. Are these all produced in the same factory?

The TC / Elcon might use a similar case but when you open them up they are likely different.

On another note though from Holly Wood Electrics page.

This unit is compatible with 2013-15 Zero Motorcycles and can be used in conjunction with the onboard charger for faster charging, (e.g. 2500W Elcon + 1300W onboard = 3800W total). For 2014-15 models, a Zero Y-Adapter can be used to attach two charger for a combined 5000W of additional charging power. However, the 2013 Zero Motorcycles only support a single additional charger.

Anyone know why two Elcon 2500's and a stock charger can't be used on a 2013 bike?

I'm not so sure about that.

The only difference between the TC and Elcon apparent on the outside is a bit of corporate silk screening.

Elcon/Chennic/Chinoz are all the same chargers and are built by Hangzhou TieCheng. I buy TC Chargers for customers, as I'm a reseller. Only branding is different. Elcon, Chinoz and Chennic are trading companies that sell the TC Charger.

DeltaQ is a Canada based company and they're completely different manufacturing, and are user programmable with a dongle, which I offer as a service

TC Chargers are essentially knock-offs of the DeltaQ design.

does that mean that on a 2014+ the (stock) external charging connector can be used for a charging power boost of up to 11.5 kW?

FYI, I discovered a local source of DeltaQ chargers recently. However DQ have advised that Zero loads a proprietary charge algorithm. Any have the brains to extract it from a stock Zero DQ so we can load it into stock non zero units?

Hi frodus; I don't know? I find it hard to imagine that Zero used anything other than fairly standard settings but DQ did say their standard 96v units "will not work" with Zero's and that their is a special set of settings. Do you know of a way to analyse or reverse engineer ?

Is there a way to read out the output of the Delta-Q of its current configuration via the lights?

I own one I bought from a Zero dealer, perhaps I could record a video of the lights if I can request that it play out its configuration.

Any ideas on how to do that?

If there aren't any passwords on it, I can't see how making and posting a video with that info would be a DMCA violation or anything like that.

The >2013 Zero Delta-Qs have a brown Anderson connector, rated 96V.  The next one above that is the purple connector at 120V.

Top voltage of the >2013 Zero battery is something like 116-118.  The people building their own chargers have been setting them to 114V so as not to risk running over, even with a longish cable.

From the user guide I've got:

Check Default Charge Algorithm Enter Algorithm Display Mode:
1) Disconnect AC Power.
2) Remove positive lead from battery pack.
3) Apply AC power and the charger will display the
algorithm number after the Power On Self Test:
a. All algorithms will display as a series of flashes
of the ‘80%’ LED.


Tell me what ya got for the charger algorithm and I'll see what I can find.
