Great news.

For others shopping around for comprehensive quotes - NRMA, SGIO, SGIC and RACV are the various state-based brands for IAG and should have similar pricing.

Wow, that's cheap, I hope they do insurance in SA! I'm paying about $600 full comp for my gsxr1000 and about $300 theft for my exc530 through insuremyride. Cheers.

Doesn't look promising for me. SGIC quote for my 06 gsxr1000 is over $2400!

Just got my renewal for my 2014 Zero SR, only $218.79 for 12 months comprehensive with NRMA.

Very happy!

I ordered my SR 2015 from Mototechnic about 6 weeks prior to it landing in Aus. I paid a deposit which locked in the price at $25,490 ride away. There was a few teething problems with Gas Gas when it came to registering it. Registration was delayed until after the weekend. Gas Gas had not sent through the vin numbers etc to Vic roads or some similar body. Picked it up on a Saturday.
I put 750 km on it then it started to do some weird things when turning it on(only 2 times), and SOC level was jumping around as well as failing to charge correctly one night. Its back with Mototechnic to be fixed while I am on holidays in Thailand. I suspect the BMS board is faulty (SOC problem and charging issues). They did a firmware upgrade for the start issues.
Just hope I get the issues sorted before the importer has any issues due to Gas Gas manufacturer going into receivership.
I also ordered a screen and top box rack, they came about 3-4 weeks after the bike. So stuff is flowing in at the moment.
I love the bike, I am an EV enthusiast, so wanted to support Zero and own a EV. I can bear a few teething issues as long as its fixed and reliable there after.

I am in Ubon at the moment and will be back in Bangkok on the 14/08/2015 (I think) for 10 days. Where are you at  "firepower" (if you don't mind me asking)?
Yes its a bit off topic, I know.

Currently at cha am / hua hin, but will be going back to Ayutthaya on Monday. And back to Australia on the 8th via BKK. There is  zero dealer in BKK too.

Hi gmarks, I just purchased my SR from Mototechnic a few weeks ago (shipped across to Perth) Sorry to hear you've had an issue, I've been lucky, with 600kms on the clock and absolutely no issues whatsoever so far and hope it stays that way. like you, absolutely love the bike. I have a Volt as well. One thing I'll say, I have an off grid 3kw solar system with 20kwh of battery storage and when I charge the Volt off the inverter, it's perfect every time, but if I charge directly from the mains, it often drops off charge with an error and the input voltage is all over the place' I only charge the SR from the 'clean' inverter supply
Hope yours gets fixed soon. Could I ask what the cost of the screen and top box was? I'm after those as well
Cheers
John

Hi John, I'm interested in a few details about your Solar system, if that's ok? I don't know much about electrics, apart from what I've learned playing around with electric RC vehicles and electric bicycles, but am interested in getting an off-grid solar system. Where did you buy the off-grid, what did it cost, and are the batteries just 12v with a 240v inverter?

I'm picking up my Zero FX in about a week's time, and after reading about charging problems, I've been really worried about it, because Mototecnic are 765kms away, and I'd prefer to not have to take the bike back for warranty! I'm wondering if I could/should use my old 12v car batteries(charged off mains) as a bank, then use a 12v-240v inverter to charge the FX.

Unless there is a problem with your electricity supply then charging your Zero from the grid works perfectly. Sounds like John has some supply issues or a problem with his Volt EVSE. I am not aware of anyone having trouble charging their Zero from the electricity network in Australia.

evtricity, As far as I know, my mains supply is ok; I haven't had trouble running other equipment, and rarely experience blackouts. Either way, solar panels with a power bank of batteries sounds like something I'd like to do in the future.

Cheers,
Ben.

Hi guys

evtricity is correct, I'm semi rural and my mains is very 'dirty' and the Volt doesn't have problems at other locations.

Happy to share details of my off-grid setup, I'll take a couple of pics to show how it looks and the configuration. It is designed for Level 2 charging of the Volt (16 amps ac) as well as the SR, so the inverter is a big one and intelligent so it can switch across to mains input and even generator if the battery voltage drops below a certain level (happens a bit in the winter with cloudy days) but the output is always spot on 230 volts and clean as a whistle

I'll post later with the detail

Cheers

John
