Zero 20125 shipments delayed in Australia.
« on: April 18, 2015, 09:00:16 AM »

And this is why australia is late in getting Zero's

"There will soon be a new local suitor for the electric motorcycle brand Zero, which was left out in the cold when the previous importer pulled the pin before Christmas

Zero Motorcycles is close to "finalising an appointment" of a new importer Down Under following the demise of the previous distributor in late 2014.

According to the Director of Sales in Asia Pacific for Zero Motorcycles, Phil Wilkinson, the appointment process has taken some time as the electric motorcycle company wants to make sure the new partner is the perfect fit for the growing brand, both in a commercial and technical capacity.

"We are towards the sharp end of the process, and we hope to be in a position to make an announcement very soon," said Wilkinson. "Zero, being an electric product, has to be treated differently to a 'normal' brand, and that's been at the forefront of our thinking right the way through this process."

Wilkinson concedes the withdrawal of the previous importer, Cento per Cento, just before Christmas wasn't ideal, especially with a revamped 2015 range on the cusp of being launched."

The dealer was happy to take my deposit though, no disclosure their importer quit. :(
May also explain lack of marketing material. Not a Zero logo to be seen anywhere.

Yep, it's a sad situation but great that Phil has gone public with this - it means they are really really close. Fingers crossed it's a good'un

Did not think much of Cento per Cento,  released with very high markup which killed interest. Only to offer 3500 rebate months later due to lack of interest, which should have been originsl pricing.

Well, that might explain why accessories seem to be built from unobtanium.

Brand new on the forum. I've just ordered a 2015 SR from Mototecnic (I'm in Perth by the way, no dealers at all!!) They have stated the next shipment is due in mid-May, so hope that is still the case

I was told March/April , and no a single update from dealer. Did get an update from zero marketing when I enquired about screens, saying they were in process of finding new importer. Just hope it not too long, otherwise might just wait for 2016 models.

So any update on the Aussie situation?
Is there there an importer? Any bikes coming in?
What about support for existing bikes, especially interested in Sydney as there isn't a dealer here!

I'm thinking about getting one, but don't want to be waiting forever or stuck with a bike that has no support.

So I can chip in a bit here. As announced Gas Gas Australia are the new importer. They have their own dealer network who they are talking to plus some of the old Cento Percento dealers remain very keen. Exactly who sells them and where is still being finalised, but some of the old dealers seem committed.

Gas Gas Australia advised me this morning that pricing is "on the website" which to me means 2014 prices are staying the same in 2015 - quite an achievement, given FX changes!. Like all of you, I'm busting to see the network start promoting and selling again and new bikes being delivered so we can get more happy riders on the road. Its early days, but Jeff seems like a decent bloke and is giving it a crack, filling in for where Cento Percento left off. It will take some time to gear up and build the skills, support and service no doubt but exciting news that Zero, after a small hiatus, are back!

The SR is $1000 more than last year, and S,DS & FX had $3500 rebate on prices last year. That's the price they need to match.

I hope they don't over charge like previous importer and killed sales and interest, and months later introduce rebate to make sales, where pricing should have been originally.

If there are any 2014 bikes not sold by Cento per Cento then you'd think they will need to be discounted sharply to sell given the 2015 bikes are significantly better with respect to suspension, ABS brakes, lighter wheels, greater capacity/range etc.

Hopefully a progressive Sydney based dealer takes them on too.

Interesting.

I suspect that bike is one sold by Central Coast motorcycles as I remember they switched one owner to the Metzeler M5 tyres. Mine has a rego plate of AGW79 so I believe they were both registered about the same time by Central Coast (June 2014).

Odd that it has only done 598 km and the bike is photographed at a Mitsubishi dealer and located at Artarmon. Perhaps a trade-in?
