after over 6 months in the shop, made the 9 hour drive to pick up my 2012 ds from the dealer. Have to charge it since the dealer didn't keep it charged, so I'll ride it later...

Mine is not (2012 S ZF9), but then it has no fault and I am in the UK.  Is there a reason they should be?

just seen multiple post of zero replacing 2012 motors, seems to be glitch recall / motor fail.

It isn't a recall because apparently owners are being charged for the work.

Had my 2012 ZF9 in for the dead MBS board and glitch-prone motor since Nov 2014. Just got it back yesterday. Only had a few minutes to ride it before heading out on a business trip but the new motor puts out more power and as it's sealed I assume won't succumb to the elements as the old motor did. Makes a satisfying whining sound, too. Paid for the labor.

so after about 240 miles so far, running ok with the new motor, range is about the same, a bit more power in sport mode, but a really annoying whine from the  the motor at lower speeds, and very jerky deceleration, most noticeable in eco mode.

Just got back from sailing my boat back across the Atlantic  . . . and my Zero was waiting with a new motor at the new NY metro dealership, Rockwell Motorcycles.

Rode the bike the 25 miles to work -- cant say I noticed any difference in performance -- but I didnt try going flat out on the windy roads between Newburgh and White Plains, and with an expired registration in my pocket.

I dont mind the different motor sound -- its like the high tech sound of the old motor, only more so.

Zero did the entire repair under warranty, including hauling the bike to the dealer, so I am really happy right now -- its great to get my ride back.  Rockwell Motorcycles seems really enthusiastic about the Zeros -- they are already the no. 2 dealer in the country, apparently.

So I am a happy Zero owner again, for now

Congrats on the successful trip and the new motor for your zero! I just was up there and they put a new power tank on my SR.  They are definitely excited about zeros and the service department seems to really know what they're doing.  I'm glad we have a dealership in our area again.
