Just Demoed the 2015 SR
« on: April 03, 2015, 06:04:47 AM »

So I finally went and demoed the SR and must say that I am in love. It was just so fun and definitely beat my expectations. I have read a lot on this forum about other's experiences and must say that there is nothing like trying it out for yourself. Although hearing about everyone having fun made me want to try it out even more. I am unquestionably going to purchase one as soon as I sell my bike. Hopefully with the weather finally starting to improve in the Northeast I can sell it FAST!

I really liked how smooth it handled and the silence of it was awesome. About the no noise as a safety issue, my dealer made an excellent point today, "I never heard a person who got in an accident with a motorcycle say I didn't hear them coming, it was always I didn't see them."

I can't wait to get mine!

Yep, all it takes is one little test ride and 106 foot pounds of instant torque. Good luck with selling your bike!

Awesome! I hope you can sell your bike soon and get riding as quick as you can on the SR! I know you must be thinking the same thing! Good luck!

One thing that I noticed when riding the demo was the rear brake pedal seemed a little small to me or something, I had to look down and make sure that I was on it. My current bike has the shape of the brake pedal in the form of a shifter lever so maybe I am just used to that feeling under my foot? Maybe I am just not used to flat style of the pedal, but wanted to know if it is just me or if anyone has put a different one on their bike?

Also I have 2 Zero dealerships near me, (I know I am lucky) the thing is I love the guy at the dealership that is slightly further for me so would like to purchase my Zero from him. The question I have is if I buy from him and have issues with the bike (hopefully not) can I take it to the closer dealer to have it worked on? Probably not a nice thing to do for the one dealer but I am looking for convenience and want to make sure that is an option. Thanks in advance!

I would go with whatever dealer you feel most comfortable with, not necessarily with the closest one.  Be sure to check out their service departments and ask around about how well and quickly they service bikes and their relationship with customers that experience warranty issues

I am not completely happy with the rear brake pedal either. it doesn't feel quite right to me. It is probably both size and position...I feel like I have to search for it. There is a small vertical adjustment range and I think I will try lowering it to see if that makes any difference. On my Honda I don't even have to think about it, it's just there. The rear brake on the Honda also has better feel and stopping power than the Zero's which is mildly annoying considering their respective price points.

Thanks, I was wondering if I was going to be the only one that had an issue with it. I just couldn't seem to feel it like I do on my Mana and had to look down twice on my demo ride. I wonder if you could replace the whole thing with something else, maybe something a little longer?

When you get your SR I'll come down on my SR and we can go for a spin around Philly!

That sounds good! Where did you get your Zero from? Do you just love it?

Got mine from Carbon Negative in Brooklyn, but they sell electric bicycles now and don't carry Zeros any more.  I love mine so much that I ride my 2012 Sero S across the country.

The SR blows me away every time I ride it.  Trying to remind myself to keep some rubber on the tire and not burn out each time I get on.  'Tis a daily temptation!

I am so glad that you enjoy your Zero that much to take it across the country. It just makes me even more excited about getting one for myself. The SR is really mind blowing to me as well, I knew that I was going to like it, but wasn't prepared for how much until I took it for a spin.

I am debating on getting mine in Cherry Hill, NJ or Bear, DE they are both pretty close to me in PA. I can't wait to sell my bike and to start my Zero riding adventures.  ;)

So of course I couldn't flat foot the bike and will be looking to have it lowered somewhat. Brett Litle says it can be lowered an inch by lowering the suspension and I might have to shave the seat down some. I noticed that the seat is a little wide and that causes me to have my legs out wider. Shaving the seat hopefully will lower it enough. Has anyone shaved their seat on their SR? I know the debate about not being able to flat foot, but I just want to feel as comfortable as possible plus I can not move the bike backwards on one foot.

With that being said, the bike is definitely lighter than my current bike. I didn't realize how much until I came home and got out my bike and was shocked how much difference there was in the weight. I mean I knew by the numbers but feeling it was a whole different thing. Overall I am just so excited that I got to try the SR out since most places will not let you ride the motorcycle until you buy it.
