Anti-theft devices pros and cons
« on: January 30, 2015, 09:19:04 PM »

This is an interesting review by the on-line motorcycle accessory store Bike Bandit describing various motorcycle anti-theft devices along with their pros and cons.  Plus, it tells you how they can be defeated and which ones work best.  While they don't like cable locks because they can be defeated in minutes with wire snips, I do like them for securing my riding gear to my motorcycle while parked when I go for a hike in the woods.

People use cable locks on motorbikes!?! I've always thought of them as only locks for cheap bicycles.

Not surprising, all of the deterrents can be overcome, especially by pros who are after vehicles of value.
With the tech revolution of moving from internal combustion and the mechanical emphasis of converting chemical energy into useful mechanical energy, electrical/electronic deterrents should be incorporated into electric vehicles controlled with intelligent processors and computers.

Things like GPS-enabled vehicle monitoring and alerting systems, biometric security sensors to be able to operate them, and the possibility of delivering a large electrical shock to would be thieves ( ;D – JK) could be incorporated in them.
