How to fix blank 2014 LCD display
« on: October 22, 2014, 03:47:12 AM »

After having my Zero SR on a trailer on a few wet drives my LCD display no longer displays anything. I've opened it up and dried out the water inside which fixed it for a while but now it's permanently blank.

Has anyone had a similar problem and is there anything anyone can suggest to remedy it short of getting a replacement from my dealer.

Thanks

This should be a warranty return, bikes are meant to be weatherproof, contact your dealer or zero for replacement.
I would expect they want to know what is causing the problem so to stop it happening to other bikes.

When viewed in the shade my display has a large V-shaped rainbow covering the entire instrument face.  I first noticed this a couple of weeks after taking delivery of my bike.  I had the dealer's service department make a note of this during the 600-mile servicing in case it got worse and I wanted to make a claim to have the display replaced.  But so far it hasn't gotten any worse and isn't irritating me enough so that I want to correct the problem.  So I am ignoring it for now.

However, I avoid riding in the rain if at all possible (I got caught in an unexpected shower on Monday) and I try to be very careful with water spray when washing my bike.  Right now all of my numbers are still numbering.

Richard230, the display on my SR has the same rainbow on it when you look at it in the shade. I've only had my bike 3 weeks and I noticed it about a week in. I assumed that it was some kind of polarization to handle direct sunlight or something to that effect. I wasn't worried about it yet since I only ever notice it when the bike is sitting outside in the shade.

If you really want to see the rainbow, look at it through polarized sun glasses.   8)
