Working RFID Ignition Mod
« on: October 14, 2014, 06:40:22 AM »

I will edit this post tomorrow to include circuit pictures which are properly drawn out and make a parts list for those who are interested. For now I will just leave you with videos of the build. For those interested I believe this can be done for under $50 ;)

Part 1 (general parts and hand drawn wire diagram)

Part 2 (assembly and testing)

Part 3 (Circuit on bike before hiding it away for testing)

I thought part 3 showed how it worked ?

I will make a video later if you like showing it in action. Right now when I get to the bike I "reset" (aka close the contacts) on my emergency stop button. When this happens power goes to the power supply feeding the circuit. I then simply sit on the bike with my RFID tag in my pocket and the bike turns on.

Pretty simple ;)

I used velcro and some gorilla tape to make sure things stay where they are suppose to. I set it up this way in case I have to power cycle while moving. If someone wanted to make their key the "switch" for this circuit they could and then place the antenna close to the ignition and put the RFID tag on the key ring for example.

Sorry, poorly phrased. In action is what I meant. Parts are coming in for my project, hope to do something similar, just need to find the time (I will need plenty of it)

You will need a lot less than you think. Once you have all the parts it is plug and play so maybe an hour or two. ;)
