side stand on my Zero S ZF9 2012 made a sliding trip
« on: October 09, 2014, 10:04:02 PM »

dear Friends of Zeros,
please check the thread bolt of the side stand on your Zero S ZF9 2012 or types with similar side stand construction.
Yesterday my S ZF9 almost fall down because the thread bolt got loose.
Up to now my ZF9 2012 run 5100 mls without any problems.

best wishes
Joseph.

The same thing happened to me (same model).  I hammered the top of the kickstand back and put a new screw in it.

I bought a new kickstand and it has a better bolt in there.

I have also used a longer screw + nut because my thread was defect.
Since one year It works now perfect!

That is a good tip.  Definitely something to check now and then.  Most of the time I never pay much attention to my kick stand.  It sounds like that is something that I should start doing.   :-[

I had to remember to tighten mine quite often before it would get too loose. My 2013 doesn't have this problem because Zero completely changed the design.

The same thing happened on my 2012 ZF9 - just a few weeks after I got it. I think the bolt wasn't tightened at the factory. Zero sent me a new kickstand and bolt (I didn't try to straighten the bent one). For awhile I checked the bolt often to make sure it didn't come loose and happen again, but now, almost three years later - I've had no problem.
I did tighten it a bit recently, but it was not precariouslly loose.

Great catch Joseph.  Checked this morning and the bolt wasn't about to fall out, but it did tighten up alot.  Many thanks!

Is it worth posting also on the 2012 forum?

Cheers
