It looks like electric vehicles are finally selling better in the UK.  And I notice that they appear to be using the Nissan CHAdeMO charging system:

A lot of the ones I've looked at when stopping at motorway services also support the Euro equivalent of J1772 as well as CHaDEMO.

Currently 11kW is not, in my opinion, enough battery to tour on, but hopefully on my next bike, I plan to go for 15kW+ and fast charging. At that point its unlikely I'll need a petrol bike at all.


However the situation regarding high capacity EV bikes here in the UK is dire. With Zero out of the market, and only one dealer, in London, selling the Empulse R, as well as one place to buy the Sieatta (both of which are not high capacity anyway) frankly the UK EV bike market, at the moment, is pretty much on life support...

I've been in touch with Jason at Streetbike recently. He's sold the 2012 DS they had as a demo!

Justin: You're old 2012 S has managed to drop a cell from the battery pack. I'm still on a quest to buy it despite my wife, family and friends all saying I shouldn't. Money is still part of the issue and I'm hoping Jason will offer me a rock bottom price. Reliability is a big concern after reading a lot of the posts here. Not to mention your old bike having yet another serious failure after less than 5,000 miles. I would probably write it off...

Statistics for Jersey came out this month and strangely there were more than twice as many EV's sold in 2012 than in 2013. I can't explain why!
