Am at work, so I don't have a mess of time to research right now, was hoping someone could help out.

The problem:  I noticed on my ride in this morning that the DS didn't charge last night.  I replugged it in when I got to base and noticed the charger error fault flashing.  Since everything else is working perfectly, and limited research suggests the fuses are susceptible to failure, I figure the fuse is the culprit.

The questions:  What type of fuse do I need to replace the bad one?  Is there a tool to do so?   Where can I get them?

Thanks for the help, I'm not an electrical engineer type, so apologies if those sound like stupid questions.

I managed to make it home on "fumes"  and immediately found the manual where it informed me that it is a 25 amp fuse.

Still a blast to ride and gave me a new form of adventure riding. 

Are there any tricks to replacing this, for those with experience?   It's a very tight fit, will I need to take out the battery?

I wouldn't think so .. pulling the battery is a non-trivial operation. Replacing a fuse should be pretty simple.

I have been unable to find a local fuse anywhere and will need to order one.  For you electrical geniuses, I have a question:

Would it be ok I use a 20 amp fuse instead of the 25 for a short duration?  I have no idea what would occur.

It turns out the fuse was melted to the receiver  . Zero advised me to use a pair of tweezers to get it out.  In the process the ceramic fuse broke, which they said might happen.  However...

In the process of getting out the melted half, I must have knocked the receiver loose from its mount, because I heard a dropping sound in the battery box and now the replacement fuse is WAY deep! 

The dealer is swamped and can't get me in for several weeks.  By then, I fear the battery will have bricked.  So question:   How hard is it to open the battery and reattach the fuse receiver?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what happened to make it melt, but lightning storms and power surges are a frequent occurrence up here.   Considering it worked perfectly when it got here, I'm gonna chalk it up to a power surge.

ihartc4; I had a very similar experience with the fuse holder melting and after digging, I reckon the stock holders are prone to it. I wrote a seperate thread on this issue including how to remove the pack and replace them. Mine melted the holder too becasue they are in such an awkard location that distorting the locking cap is inevitable, which means the fuse doesnt hold tight, arcs, heats and then fails.
