I'm not positive but I believe one reason the 2x2500kW charging configuration is the one that is most often used is because of the current used from the charging station might blow the fuses on your bike.

I have similar experience with GE Wattstations, they don't work with Elcons.

Haven't heard of anyone using the ChaDeMo charging infrastructure for a long range trip yet.  Hope to hear about it soon or (if I can upgrade my bike this year) maybe I'll do it next summer.

I successfully used CHAdeMO with a Zero S a couple of times.

In practice, it is a compelling charge method that makes the bike much more practical to have, and there is no visible additional component other than the integrated connector near the monolith.  It's really the way to go.

DynoMutt,

What brand of CHAdeMO charging stations did you charge at?

Both were Eaton units.

I tried a freestanding cylindrical Aerovironment, but the system voltage was lower than the Aerovironment would consider to be legitimate and it refused to charge.

DynoMutt, we may want to look into that with Aerovironment since they appear to be installing about 4-5 chargers in the area.

Zero already has a case open with Aerovironment about this problem AFAIK, and has for a while.  I'm not sure how long it will take to be resolved.

I've noticed there are some new ones going in near me made by EFACEC (Portuguese), which look like they could potentially handle multiple CHAdeMO frontends at once, but each location is getting just one for now.  I haven't found an active EFACEC charger in the area to try, and I don't have a CHAdeMO bike anymore.  I hope to get CHAdeMO as soon as is possible on the 2014 SR.

Their website states IP46.

So they have good water protection, but not stellar dust protection? I seem to recall a few people have run these in an "open" setup (Terry :)). Any problem with too much dust getting in?
