Kick Gas Movie
« on: April 27, 2014, 10:15:45 AM »

Just downloaded and watched "Kick Gas" - awesome documentary. Starring Ben, Rachel, Terry, Harlan, Paul Scott - and many more EV pioneers. Great job everyone!  The Zero was the coolest EV in the movie, of course ;-)

I just paid it and watched it and it's an amazing great video with very great peoples. They deserve respect for wqhat they accomplished.

One day I would really love to be part of a such great adventure!

Back in 2009 my great friend Justin Lemire-Elmore have cross Canada from Vancouver to Halifax with his electric bicycle. It  have stop by Quebec  visiting me during 3 days  and that was amazing. This guy is the true pioneer of ebike community. He deserve great respect too

He gave a conference about that trip.

Some article about that trip:

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed the movie!

Let me know if you have any questions about the journey.  It was an amazing trip and was particularly fun meeting Terry, Harlan and Gavin along the way!

You have to pay to watch the video?

Sorry benswing but charging for a video does not fit with the trips ethos of spreading the electric gospel at all.  I would happily have donated $10 to a worthy cause if it was an option but I am not going to PAY for it.

You could have got it shown on a commercial satellite channel if money making was really the goal but now it will be seen by hardly anyone and those that do watch it, will already be EV converts.

Thanks for the feedback, NoiseBoy.  We have sought out several venues for showing the movie, including some interest from HBO.  However, after weighing the options we decided on this method of distribution.

As you can tell from the trailer, this is a professionally made movie, not just an internet video.  It is not *mine*, it is the work of a team of people including a professional director, cinematographer, audio engineer, editor, etc.  It is expensive to make a movie of this quality.

As you probably read on the www.KickGas.tv webpage, 10% of our proceeds goes to the excellent volunteer organization Serve Moore who is working to help the town of Moore, OK recover from 6 massive tornadoes last year.  We did some volunteer work with them while on the road and their work really touched us so we are trying to help them out some more.

We have received quite a few great reviews from people who have seen the film in its entirety and I hope you will enjoy it sometime as well.

I can't afford to defend myself against copyright infringement rottweilers so not so easy after all.

Obviously I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't rip off the project that we put thousands of dollars and an entire summer of our lives into.

If we were sponsored by Nissan, Zero, A2B, Aerovironment, or anyone, then we might be able to share this with the masses for free.  However, we did this on our own dime and we'd like to at least break even.  I really had higher expectations from this group than to encourage each other to rip off another member's product.

We plan to continue to advocate for electric vehicles in the future so your money is supporting to a cause you believe in, and some of it goes to Serve Moore to help with tornado recovery.

Also, if you are a member of the Electric Auto Association, you can get a discount.

I think it's a generation gap thing. I'm always surprised how the 'younger' generation expects to be able to download anything for free. I grew up at a time when if you wanted to shoplift a record album (for example) you'd have to find a way to tuck it down your pants, and hope nobody catches you. Now people look at me in shock when I admit I actually PAID for a music album.

I only paid $5 to watch 'Kick Gas' and for that price I could watch it online, or download it onto my hard drive to watch it later. A small price to pay to support a great cause (and be entertained!)

OK go back and read what was said. "Well NoiseBoy, you can buy the movie, then put it online for free.  See how easy things are :-)" Do you see where it said buy. It did not say rent it. It said buy. Have I said it enough. Buy means you purchase the product and have ownership and then you can do whatever you wish with it. I did not say rent it. That is two different things. Buying and renting are not the same thing. Before you call someone a name, at least be literate enough to read!!!!!!!!!!!!

@bigd - Weren't you encouraging someone else to purchase the movie then upload it so that you can watch it for free? I feel like we should be a bit more supportive of each other, especially guys like benswing who are trying to spread awareness about electric vehicles as an alternative form of transformation.

If you want to see the film, you should buy it yourself - it's not like the money is going into the pockets of rich producers or overpaid actors. These are normal people who want to make a difference.

Plus, I'm sure you can afford the few bucks it costs to purchase the movie.

biolife - when I said buy it then you can do as u like. For example I bought my car. I can let anyone I want drive it. However, I rented a  car a few weeks ago and there were rules for this. therefore, I cannot let just anyone drive it. I did not say for him to rent it, record it, and put it online. I said to buy it then he can put it online in whatever form he wishes. I would be glad to clarify this rather than say what I did but someone had to start the name calling. You know real tough hiding behind his keyboard LOL. Sorry for the confusion.

Im sorry that your reading comprehension is low frodus. As was plainly stated, I said to buy the movie. Ill say it slow for you. If Noisy buys the movie he can put online, in his closet, on his house, if he so choses. He is now the owner and can do as he wishes with it. I was playing on what Noisy said about seeing it for free. Or did you even read what Noisy said. You have to read all the content to make an inference you know. I know it was a lot of words for you, however, if you are going to be a tough guy and call others name at least try to know what you are talking about. "Its just a shame" your reading comprehension level is that low.
