Rode my '12 S into Brooklyn Friday to get the recall firmware upgrade -- was supposed to be a 15 minute job (plus three hours to charge up for the ride home) -- but the bike was somehow bricked by the firmware upgrade!  Turn the key, no lights, no action.   

Dealer thought maybe the process of connecting the cables shorted something.  Zero overnighted a new MBB, supposed to get the bike back tomorrow.  Had to ride the train home.  Bizarre.

All rom flashable circuit makers should include a Rom recovery like it is now on computers.

I guess computers will always have an advance over standard electronic.

Its possible.

However, it is more likely that there was a power interrupt while the firmware was being written to the chip.
It happens occasionally in the games industry. I've seen couple of games console devkits get bricked due to an intterupted firmware flash.

Since I figured out last year that the so-called "glitch" is caused by water condensing in the motor I avoid leaving the bike in any environment where the motor is cooler than the surrounding warmer, wetter air. So far no more glitches for me.  These reports warn me off the "official" fix. I'd rather enjoy the bike. It's delivering flawless performance. Every, Single. Ride. Great bike!
