Can't connect to bike Bluetooth
« on: January 10, 2014, 06:51:51 AM »

Hello, I tried to connect to my bike with my new Nexus 4 and I see no Bluetooth device even if the key is put ON. Is it because it's too cold?

Follow the guide above. You need to make the bike discoverable by toggling the sport Eco switch 12 time before your device will be able to recognize your bike.

Turn it on and flip the spot eco switch a bunch. then search for it.

Not all phones can use the app though. They have to support SPP. My HTC One will not work with the Zero app.

If only they had put this information on the app.

Anyway thanks a lot ! I'll try on my next occasion.

Not true unless there are different versions.  I'm on Verizon if it matters.  My One works fine.  (Well, fine is relative, the app is buggy on startup pretty often.)

Yeah, I think there are a few different kernels out there on the HTC Ones I'm on T-Mobile, it may work with the next update I hope.

"A little buggy" is a good description. I'm using an iPod Touch (no phone) and sometimes I have to mess with it for awhile to get the connection. Other times it connects right away with no problem.  ???

It seems like the software could benefit from some additional work. But I don't know if that would be at Zero's end or Apple's end or both.

tried again yesterday but it didn't work. I must have switched the Eco button 100 times, no Bluetooth device found. I even tried with the bike fully ON with the stand removed, no luck.

I used an ipad to do the Bluetooth settings. I know you need to be close to the bike to activate the Bluetooth. I just followed the instructions online where you download the app. Worked fine once I was next to the bike and toggled as directed.

Kensiko,

Try the following:

-  Kickstand up
-  Key on
-  Kill switch on (Basically bike is ready to roll on power)
-  Scan for BT devices with your Nexus and see if the Nexus can "see" the bike

I found this to be more convenient than toggling the silly mode switch to death.   This works with iDevices but I don't have a Nexus4 so I can't verify it for that device.

After I connect to the bike by the method above I can put it on charge and still connect to it.

I did like this the last time. I was never able to see anything.

I think I'll try when spring gets here.

Add to the list: trying other devices to eliminate the nexus as being the problem.

Yes that would help, but I don't have another one for now.

Hi Kensiko,

I use a Nexus 4 with my 2013 Zero DS.  Windrider's instructions are the easiest method I have found.  But you should also be able to put the bike in Pair Mode with the 12 clicks of the Eco/Sport button as in the online user guide.  You'll see the Green light blink when it's in pair mode.  And make sure the kill switch is on kill.

Everyone,

If you have a MY14 motorcycle, you will hold the Mode button for 5 seconds. You should then see the Bluetooth indicator illuminate and flash on the Dash.  Updating the web site and owner's manual with this information this week.  Sorry it's late.

Regards,
