Hi all, I'm a newbie, please be gentle... ;-)
« on: January 06, 2014, 11:37:30 PM »

Hi, I just joined this forum for some obvious reasons. First let me introduce myself.

My name is Mike Werner, I'm Dutch, live in Normandy, France and I'm a journalist (I write  in English). A big part of my job is motorcycles, for my own site, for other sites and for magazines. I also write for some American magazines on travel & tourism.

I wrote a series of reviews on the Zero DS last year, and loved the bike so much, I just bought it. It's going to be delivered within the next 10 days or so.... can't wait.

I've been a firm believer of electric motorcycles, and think we're in an exciting time with rapid changes coming. I joined the forum to learn more about user's experiences and hints/tips.

Hope to "talk" to you over the next few weeks.

Thanks. I did a lot of electric bikes in the beginning many years ago before it became popular, now I look for the "specials". But I know that more and more articles will be about electric bikes/scoots.

Now that I'm getting the DS, I can write more about them based on experience..

Welcome!

Would you post a link to some of your articles?  I'm interested in reading them.

As you probably know, this is a great group with lively and well-informed discussions.  Enjoy your DS!

Hello Mike.  I have been reading your articles for about a year now, as they get scooped up by the Automated News Bot on my BMW forum.  I just finished reading the report on the Vespa 125.

Congratulations on your new Zero.  I have a 2012 S ZF9 and am very happy with it.  However, I plan to give it to my granddaughter, who will be 16 later this year, for her to learn to ride on.  I figure that will be the perfect bike to do so as she is not all that mechanically inclined and learning to ride a bike without a clutch should be much easier and safer to do for a new rider.

Meanwhile, I have ordered a 2014 11.4 S with the factory power "tank" accessory so that I can extend my riding envelope from my current 80 to 100 miles to as much as 150 miles, which should be achievable when riding on two lane mountain roads at speeds of around 40-50 mph.  Plus, I'll be happy to have the 2014's larger frame and more seating room than my 2012 model.  I plan to report my experiences with the new bike by posting here.

I'm in Jersey.  Quite a drive to where you are, when i eventually upgrade from my 2012 S I will probably do a french road trip, I think it would be a bit of a trek on my current bike though.  I only know of one other French member on here, Le Z Turbo, but he is on Lyon.   We aren't quite ready for a Europe Zero Meet-up yet!

Good idea. It was also one of the "extra" reasons I got the DS, since my wife rides herself, but very occasionally. This is a better fit for her when she hasn't been riding for months.

Thanks btw for posting the links to my articles here.

Lucky man... Visit Jersey a few months ago. Loved it. Went on my Gold Wing, but was thinking how great it would be on an electric bike.
