Anyone know if it's possible to finance a pre-order so that the purchase occurs in 2013?  Losing the federal and state tax credits in 2014 significantly affects my decision to buy an e-bike.  I can't pay $17k for a bike, regardless of features or efficiency.  $13k is my upper limit.

At a guess, you would have to take out a loan and pay cash in full for the bike, if Zero will allow it.

My reading of the Federal credit instructions is that the vehicle has to have been purchased, titled and placed in operation during the tax year that you are applying for the credit.  So I don't think your idea would work, even if you bought a 2013 bike, paid for it, but didn't pick it up at the dealer until after the first of the year.

In terms of delivery, I spoke with some reps at the NY Motorcycle show and they mentioned they will probably be delivering to the southern states first, since their riding season is all year long.  Then as temperatures warm up and riding season can begin in northern states, they will be available.
