Zero X direct from Amazon.com
« on: April 18, 2009, 06:24:05 AM »

You can now order the Zero X direct from Amazon.com This is a great deal for those in CA who want to skip the TAX or if you have Amazon Prime you save on the ship cost. It seems Amazon has stock of it's own, OR Zero is now using Amazon to warehouse. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001SK3GHA/

A site I love for tracking prices on Amazon.com is camelcamelcamel.com
Here is the link to the Zero X http://www.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B001SK3GHA
You can set the price you want to pay and it will email you if the price hits it. Also is one for Best Buy for when the Brammo Enertia hits the market.

Wow, that really changes things for the powersports industry and the way people buy bikes.  Thanks for pointing that out.

3camel is pretty cool, thanks for that link.

I wonder why the ship weight for the zero says 550 pounds? If you order from amazon can you get lucky and get two sent for the price of 1? I went and picked up my Zero X direct so Ive never seen what it ships in. But I would hope its not a wood box.

Yeah, that does seem like a lot of weight.  You wouldn't think even a wooden crate would weigh almost 400 lbs.

Hmm you could setup a refer with amazon and get 6% off the order? I wonder if this will work.

I don't see why it wouldn't.  Really a smart marketing move on Zero's part.  I'm sure we will see affiliate links to the Zero X in motorcycle blogs all over the web.  Articles will be written for that purpose alone.  I can't say the thought has not crossed my mind when I saw this post.  ;D

I wonder if the nearest rep to the shipping address gets a cut.  That is how it works when someone buys from the Zero website.

As a motorcycle consumer I think I would prefer to buy through a Zero rep as long as it's the same price.  With a purchase that big I would want someone to talk to who has connections to the mother ship.

Picasso, what makes you say this?  Couldn't Zero drop ship like they do for all other purchases?

Yes it can keep selling from it's own stock on hand as it builds. But the fact that It says "Amazon Prime" tells me Zero sold some to Amazon, OR Zero plans to use Amazon for it warehousing.

nearest rep to the shipping address gets a cut???? HOW LAME. What is this AMWAY? AVON? I wonder who got a cut of my sale?

And why buy via a rep? Just deal with Zero Direct. Now if these "REPS" have a service center or was a real motor bike dealer I could see that.

One thing I wondered about my Zero X is the sticker on the front that says its a "motorcycle" and that it applys to all "federal motors vehicle standards" What the hell does that get me? I don't see one DOT part on the bike. I couldnt find a list of standards for a motorcycle. But I would have to guess it would need some DOT parts.

Interesting they did not mention a rep in your area.  Maybe there was not one close enough yet?  Maybe they did not implement that system of pay the rep yet?

There will be dealers with service centers selling the bikes too.  This article mentions there are very few non-dealer reps at this point...

Not sure about the DOT part requirements.  I know regular dirt bikes have non-DOT tires and exhaust on them usually.  Unless of course they are street legal.

Almost sold out on Amazon.  But they are getting more.

You are presented this message when you view the Zero X page...

It has only ever had 2 in stock that I have seen, when Amazon gets low it lists the numbers on hand. These bikes are in a Amazon warehouse. We won't always be shown the stock on hand. I'll keep an eye on how it does and its rankings.

Ah OK, I never noticed before.  Reviews seem good so far.

What does the sales rank indicate?  How well it sells?  It is at 100,545 today for the record.

The affiliate links are poping up :D  In the next few weeks they will be on most motorcycle sites I bet.

Free advertising for Zero Motorcycles.  These guys are smart.  Gotta love it!

They are gone.  I assume the 2 that were left are sold.  Unless Zero pulled them which is unlikely.

From Zero

" It turns out Amazon was not able to handle VIN'd vehicles, though they are working on it, but they had to remove the link until they are confirmed to sell our bikes. "
