ICE bikes
« on: July 08, 2013, 09:02:52 AM »

I am a first time motorcycle owner.  I keep seeing a term thrown around here a lot...

ICE bikes, what are they?

It's an antiquated technology like Coal fired Steam-engines ... LOL

Actually a moden steam engine in a power station is about twice as efficient as the Infernal Combustion Engine!

But an electric bike could run a quarter that fast no problem but it wouldn't need rebuilding after 1000 miles.

Why join an electric motorcycle forum just to preach about your gas bike?  Almost all of us have owned or still own powerful gas bikes but have realised that electric is the future. Get over it.

In the drag bike world the electrics are catching up with the top fuel bikes pretty quickly.
Currently the fastest electric is 201mph over the quarter mile to the ICE 245mph over the quarter.

Lawless seem confident that the electric could be able to hit 255mph over the quarter, but I wait to be convinced... :)

lol is anyone actually interested in development here?
I am interested in motorcycle development and have national and track champion trophy's to prove it .What are your credentials ?
coulda shoulda woulda run a 9 dosnt cut it
its just a gauge 9 sec 212mph top speed 30 passes back. tp back without refuelling or changing a thing ride it the 140 klms  from home  and back after its a street bike ridden 2 up with a pillion and has 87000klms on it should be good for another 200000klms might need a new battery for it sometime
lighten up guys i am serious about making some inroads into ev tech
any budding scientists interested in developing a axial flux vernier squirrel cage motor dont hesitate to contact me   :-*

I wouldn't go onto a motorcycle forum and start saying that cars are better just because a top fuel dragster is faster so don't expect  sympathy for your cause here. The fact is that the ICE has changed very little since the g
first overhead valve in 1917. Look at the progress one small company has made in just 3 years with a budget just a tiny fraction of an ICE company.

I'm a highly experienced Audio Systems programmer with top triple A computer titles* to my credit, which seems to be as about irreverent to this conversation as your credentials... ;)

I generally don't ride bikes very fast however, mostly because I generally ride them touring for fun and for commuting. So I'm sure you could quite easily beat me in a road race, and I'm quite ok with that. :D

What I think is relevant to this conversation, is that we are clearly both passionate about motorbikes, and their development, especially EV bikes.

So lets keep it civil, because I get the feeling that we would probably both get along with each other over a pint.  :)

Step away from the drag strip and put an average motorcyclist on an SR and they would get to 60 faster than they would on your bike I guarantee it.

I'm not trying to be argumentative hamr1 I'm just making the point that this is an EV forum so naturally the people here find electric vehicles more suitable for their needs. I rode my supermotards at the pointy end of the fast group, you would have liked my KTM I'm sure and obviously my Zero is nowhere near as fast on an empty road but for the rain soaked winter commute which makes up a large proportion of my riding, it blows the race spec KTM into the weeds.

So nothing personal or against your ICE but I believe the EV is the bright future of motorcycling.
