I dont know what the cost of the kit will be check with Zero. Baja Designs used my bike to make the kit. Once you put the light kit on it has to inspected by a certified light specialist ( this is in CA). They will have a statement of facts that certifies the lights, horn, turn signals all work properly.  The mechanic should also give you a CHP 888 form that you have to sign. Take the statement of facts, the CHP 888 and your Zero to the DMV. They will have to verify the Vin. In order to register a new bike in CA it must have a Federal label. That is unless the bike is under 50 cc's. The ZERO is 0 cc's. The Vin conforms the same as a green sticker bike so an emissions label is not needed. For engine type the DMV needs to use E (for Electric just like an electric car). Some DMV employees dont know what to do with electric motorcycles. Let them know that several of these bikes have been registered and if they say it cant be done talk to a manager.

Ok but you still need DOT tires, and the Ser# also stamped on the motor?

How is the rear brake light switching on?

Baja designs supplied me with the statement of facts and all that was listed was the lights and horn. The vin gets verifed at the DMV. Since there is no engine number the verifer marks the box that says "none". No one said anything about the tires. As  for the brake light Baja designs added a micro switch under the left brake lever to activate the brake lights. It works great.

I've been giving my Zero X a workout on the street this week. Got pulled over but showed the officer the switch that limits and he let me go.
The Zero X has NASTY brake fade, the bike brakes on the motorcycle heat up damn fast. It would be wise to slow down on the streets. One thing I have also never felt before. Under hard brake action I can tell what side of the wheel the rotor is on. It seems to me to pull to the left. I have never been able to feel brake action like this. Is the front end flexing or what? I might need to put the camera on the bike and see what the heck makes it feel so odd under brake. I didnt feel this is the dirt at all but your on the front brake less in the dirt.

I made some passenger foot pegs and my wife and I cruised Del Mar and Solana Beach today.  Even with two of us on the bike I didnt have any problems with braking.  I went through a lot of stop signs Although we were just cruising. I ran into a guy who just put deposit down on a Zero S but after he rode my bike he decided to switch to the X and make it street legal. My brakes do sqeek on occasion
But it's not that often. Is the sqeeking do to them getting hot?
