I'm going to miss my Zero S red wheels.
« on: April 07, 2013, 12:39:50 PM »

I was showing off my 2012 Zero S to a visitor today and I realized how much I liked my red wheels. But I just plunked money down to order a black 2013 S ZF11.4 and started daydreaming about whether I can order after-market wheels.  Anyone have any recommendations?  In the meantime, I wanted to "see it" before buying and played with some ideas in Photoshop. :)

What do you think?

Agreed.
The red version is my favourite...Zero should definitely come up with them as an option.

I suppose tires are commonly swapped out. What do y'all do if you'd like different wheels?

You don't need new wheels. Just get the standard wheels powder coated. I like the look of the Mango one.

Thanks! My husband and I double teamed a search and found a couple of places that can do the powder coating. I want to pull off my 'mango' design someday!

Seems like the wheels would be interchangeable.  Can't you just swap them?

It says on Zero's site that the wheels were designed for the Bike. If Zero wheels are for sale, might order a spare just to powder coat one set and not lose a day of riding!

Speaking of colors: I am seriously thinking that I am about to order a Zero S ZF11.4. I am really torn between how slick the all-black version looks, versus the higher vis of the bright colored yellow bike. I am leaning towards yellow because of all the dark dreary weather in the Pacific NW where I live and that the bright color may save my life . Decisions..........

Back on topic- Does anybody know who does good powder coating in the Seattle vicinity?

The dealer just lent me their yellow and black demo bike until they're done analyzing my 2012 S over the controller issue. (Oh mmannnn, is ride quality amazing. I love my 2012 but the 2013 may just put a permanent grin on your face!) And so I'm stoked to learn that the bike I reserved is heading up from Santa Cruz today!  I've had a few more folks compliment my 'Mango' design so I'm gonna go ahead and get that scheduled.  I'll have to post the name of the guy the dealer recommended for powder coating (I thought I'd remember it!)

If there is a color combo you guys might want to see, I can comp that up. I probably have time to do a couple more. :)

Cheers!

I like the white wheels! How about an all white and black design? Like the 2012 ds but with white wheels also

Maybe so!  But will everything fit the same if I do though?  The drive belt is on the left side in the 2013 instead of the right like on the 2012.
I wonder if the trade-in value would change. :)

Think zero should hire you as colour designer, you have some good styles.
