When they come out with a Tie fighter sound, I'm in.

I expect that when there is greater adoption of electric motorcycles, kits like this will become more common.  I have thought that having options for revving sounds would be fun to have in case the mood moves you.  Just need a bolt on speaker system.

But most of the time I would still ride silently. ;D

+1 on the Tie Fighter idea. Actually, I'm pretty much set on some kind of noisemaker that makes a scifi sound. Even a human equivalent of a deer whistle might be a nice short-term solution.

Tie Fighter is cool but I'd rather Jetson's spaceship...

Or first gen Tron Lightbike!

Oh, of course TRON Lightcycle sounds would also be acceptable. I'll ask the dealer about the simplest non-invasive way to get the RPM info out. The remaining trick would be to power a simple device with a loud enough speaker, or maybe replace/use the horn circuit.

I am still interested in this or something like it. Soundracer has not responded to my email inquiry after a few months.

Obviously I can't go into things in great detail, but my day job involves writing software to generate engine audio. (I work at Codemasters on their driving games)

The technique you want to take a look at involves granular synthasis, a commercial engine is available for this called Rev.

That's interesting, thank you. I've had a basic working knowledge of DSP since I had an odd software job in audio watermarking years ago, but am hoping I don't have to code or solder something myself. :-)

Honestly, that faux exhaust muffler might make a reasonably good mini-amplifier, but hopefully those of us wanting a scifi sound can skip the skeuomorphism entirely.

"audio watermarking years ago"

While editing audio we often put silly drawings or sign our names in the high frequency areas of the spectrograms...  ;)

I'm not really sure why you would want to make your electric bike sound like an ICE, when all ICE's do is piss everyone off most of the time.

Funnily enough, I did my degree in sound technology although focused around Recording, mixing, editing etc. rather than the more mathematical side of it.  Interesting that electric bikes seem to attract audio enthusiasts!
