The fever
« on: May 10, 2012, 06:34:46 AM »

I got the fever, and I got it bad.  Yikes!  I love my new Zero.
I've had my Zero less than 2 weeks, and I've already let 16 people try it.  I find myself talking it up like a salesguy.
It's a real attention getter.  Strangers walk up to me in parking lots and ask questions, genuinely interested.  I've gotten thumbs up from people when I'm on the road.

I rode into Boulder today to the local motorcycle dealer, Colorado Powersports, with the intent on suggesting to them they consider taking up Zero.  (Advantageous to me as the current Denver area dealer is ~45 miles away, and across town.)
The guy told me he already had 8 lines and had no more room.  Then he shrugged and said in a condescending tone "I've ridden a Zero....".  Another Wes Siler, perhaps?

So then I rode over to "Green-Eyed Motors" the local EV specialty dealership.  That guy already knew alot about Zeros and was super excited to see a 2012 model first hand.  I let him ride it and proposed he become a Zero Dealer.  I think he's really going to consider it.  Cool!

  Another Wes Siler, perhaps?
Can we make this a "thing"?  Like the television show "Community" turned one of the character's names into a synonym for "screwed it up"  e.g. "Wow, you tried so hard, but you Britta'd it."

So, maybe this:
I was minding my own business, sitting outside my local cafe, drinking a coffee and looking at Reddit on my phone.  Suddenly, this guy asks if the electric bike is mine and I say yes, figuring that, like most people, he wants to know about range, top speed, cost, etc.  Instead, he interrupts and tells me how impractical they are and how they can't compare to a 600cc sportbike.  Then, he popped the collar on his $1000 leather jacket, turned on the heel of his $700 racing boots, and walked away.  Yeah, what a Siler.

;D I crack myself up sometimes.  I like most of the stuff on his site.... but that RideApart thing... blew.

How about this one:

Rush Limbaugh is all Siler on EV's.

Wait, I'm so confused.

Is it Jezza totally Silered the Tesla Roadster or Siler totally Jezza'ed the Zero DS?

Maybe it's Zero set themselves up to be Silered with their obtuse range specifications..

I think it's more like, "Jeremy Clarkson silered the Tesla when he rode around the track for an hour the night before the show's taping, and neglected to plug it in afterwards."

I got myself into a funny situation a week ago...a couple of guys trying to overtake me with two sport bikes in a hilly & road...They could not   ;) and when I let them do it, their faces where very surprised (looking at the bike).

Side note to our Zero friends: You may build the foot rests at a higher position...so you do not hit the gound sometimes  ;D

Sign me up for the higher pegs list. I scrape my boots pretty often now, which is always a bit disconcerting..

Well...If they redesign/move a little the kick stand position, we would be fine  ;) - Unless your name is Pedrosa,  Stoner or Rossi  ;D
