Is a 6 AMP Battery Charger 6 AMP Total Or Per Bank?
« on: August 13, 2011, 09:54:10 AM »

Just what the title says is a 6 amp battery charger 6 amps total so 1.5 amps per bank or is it 6 amps per bank, 24 amps total?

Be gentle I'm learning.

It will be 6 amps total, unless there are two separate outputs, but it would probably be spec'd as 6amp x2 or something.

well, depends on how you wire it :)

if you have 6 12V batteries in series, and none in parallel, and you have a 72V 6A charger, each battery will charge at 6A.

If you have 12 12V batteries set up with 2 in parallel for each group, and 6 groups in parallel, you have 3A per battery because the current divides between the 2 parallel cells.

If you have 18 12V batteries set up with 3 in parallel, then you have 2A per battery.....

etc
