Ola Electric with new electric motorcycle on their website.
« on: August 22, 2024, 08:45:53 PM »

Just imagine if the Ola Roadster Pro 16 makes it to the western market.
579 km range.
194 km/h top speed.
52 kW peak power.
2.2 kW home charger.
Proximity lock/unlock.
10 inch display.
Maps and navigation built in.

Even if the specs are exaggerated it's still quite impressive.
For those not familiar with Ola Electric, it is one of the worlds largest manufacturer of electric scooters.

At least I don't see a trademark symbol after "Roadster"  Then I see Sportster coming soon.  Has Harley lost the Sportster name exclusivity?

Ola is in India. My guess is that SportsterTM is not registered there.

I don't believe that "certified" range for one second. They're claiming 190km from 4.5kW/h meanwhile an FXE has a claimed 169km city range, but in reality you'd be lucky to squeeze 130km out of it.

Its the $3000 price tag that I see as totally unrealistic. Unless its a loss leader and they're taking a bath on each one. No way you can put out a 16KWH machine for less than the price of s Zero Charge Tank.

The reality is that actually, you can. We're simply being rinsed here in the West.

I do not look at range claims. There is no need. I also do not look at charging times.

Just tell me the usable KWH of the battery, the KW of the AC input charger, and what wattage the battery can handle on the DCFC. The rest is meaningless BS, just as is looking at your "range left" on any electric motorcycle, which I can turn off on my Zero DSR/x, and keep off the screen. I wish I could turn that off on my Energicas as well. SOC% is all I want to see.

I figure around 7 miles (11 KM) per useable KWH is an average for all types of riding. Around 50% of our rides will beat that and 50% of our rides will be less at the speed limits. IOW, very mixed riding as is the norm, IOW,  mostly freeway with some city riding mixed in.

yeah nah, the raw price for the batteries alone would be around the $2000usd mark. There is a whole lot of BS in either the spec or price. The build quality could be interesting, while no-one is claiming indian manufacture is near japanese, by all accounts it worlds better than anything the british did, and likely superior to the current chinese standard
