Good to see that you found a working dongle-smartphone combination. Now I am wondering whether the values reported are identical to those of the engineering screen.

Yes, good question.  I will compare the data on the app to the engineering screen and report back.

Confirmed that the data from the OBD2 connection using the energ1ca app by Hans Cappelle is in agreement so far as the displayed values on the app match what is on the engineering screen.

Thanks for the comparison. For me it's good news that the data (or at least this data) from the engineering screen does not seem to be obsolete.

Quote from @chisquare

"  Long press of the mode switch to the right (R).
Then press the following key combination:
RRR
LLL
RRR
LRL

Push

This causes a wrench symbol to appear in the top right of the display. Pressing the mode switch calls up the service menu, in which the engineering screen is now enabled. This can be selected and shows numerous hidden information. It also has a secondary screen (press the mode switch to the right (R)). Everything seems to be read only which is certainly a good idea ;).

The engineering screen can be exited by pressing and holding the mode switch to the left (L)."

Are you saying press mode sw to right, then press mode sw 3 brief times to right then left then right then left then push mode sw?

Follow the instructions exactly.

Slide the mode button and hold it to the right to enter the settings screen.

Then move the selector to the right 3 times which lands you in the last line

Then left 3 times which brings you back to the top.

Then move the selector right again 3 times bringing you again to the bottom.

Then a left move on the switch then a right move and finally a left move followed by a push in of the mode button

I don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong, but all that just brings me to service screen, not the eng screen.

It's not you.  Does not always work for me either.

When it does work, you will see a line to select that say engineering screen on the menu of items under the service selection.

I have no idea why it is inconsistent in terms of availability despite pressing the exact same buttons.

The lack of assured consistency in accessing the engineering menu is why I looked into getting the Hans Cappelle app to work.

I like to know my battery temp, min/max cell voltage while charging.

The engineering menu was not meant really to be seen by us mere mortals, which is why it probably is such a pita to get to.  I could never get mine to work either and just said F it.
