Energica BLE App
« on: June 24, 2024, 10:26:57 PM »

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.hcpl.android.energica&hl=en_US

Going to try this out and see what data it has to offer compared to the engineering screen.

If anyone has used it, which OBDII dongle have you used?  Do you keep that dongle installed on the port all the time under the fairing?  Battery drain issues with the dongle?

Was going to use this dongle as it was recommended in the FB group.

Does your bike have bluetooth? They stopped putting the chips in years ago.

No.  I have a 2023 Ribelle, no Bluetooth.

Then I suspect that BLE devices, which stands for Bluetooth Low Energy, might not work.

edit- oh you just want to pair it with an OBDII device that emits BLE. I see.

I use this one with my experia.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011NSX27A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Much more affordable than the one I linked to.  Thanks.

Do you use it with the Hans Cappele app?  Do you keep the dongle connected at all times?

The original MyEnergica app serves me well to this day ('21 Ribelle)...I can monitor state of charge from other end of house in eager anticipation for when target SOC is reached...the only flaw is that the BLE module powers up when ignition is keyed "on" which works for home because lights are muted while charging...once bike is "on" firmware 37 allows anyone to operate w/o FOB...yikes not good for pulbic charging but the fix is easy instead Energica gave up rather than make it right...

I remain convinced that not paying extra for the glaring security flaw that occasionally prevents you using the bike was a good move.

Physical keys that insert into the bike forever.

My first test with the app failed.

Was able to get installed on the android device.

Paired with the OBDII dongle.

App recognized the device, but no data seems to be transmitting to the app.

Try a really old Android device. Samsung S7 for instance works well. Not older than Android 8.

I guess you have to leave OBII interface connected all the time, otherwise you have to remove & replace covers.

You could run an extension and relocate the plug.  Under the seat around the charging port would work.

Some success today!

I was able to get the Hans Cappelle app to work with the following phone and OBD2 device.

https://veepeak.com/products/obdcheck-ble

https://www.motorola.com/us/smartphones-moto-g-play-gen-3/p?skuId=1041

The app was only giving me battery data from the OBD2 tab, nothing from the BLE tab.  The BLE tab is supposed to receive data from the on board energica BT, which my bike does not have.

The GPS/Map worked as well, off cellular or wifi data.

Good to see that you found a working dongle-smartphone combination. Now I am wondering whether the values reported are identical to those of the engineering screen.
