One of the inconveniences of the Zero Motorcycles SR/S is you have to turn off the bike to use the key to unlock and open the storage compartment. This upgrade I created fixes that problem by replacing the storage compartment key cylinder with an electrical push button switch that opens the compartment but only when the bike is on or charging. It does this by using an automotive grade linear motor which plugs into the bike’s 12 volt accessory plug which is only powered when the bike is on or charging. When the bike is off access to the storage compartment is denied.

What happens when you leave the bike to charge at a public charging station? Wouldn't that be a security issue?

For me personally I only use public chargers when I need the extra charge to make it home and in those situations I sit by the bike. But yes, if you are worried about someone pressing the button at a public charger then this idea isn’t for you.

I have had one of these for a little while know and it is just the best! Nothing beats pulling up to a drive thru to get some food and just popping it open to put the food in without having to turn off the bike! Also great for accessing phone and sunglasses at red lights.
