I know Apollo - I am a Lightning owner in SoCal - he filled me in on the details. Just ask Apollo. Rich that MVetter accuses people when he is an Energica Sales Specialist - real unbiased.

OK, this doesnt add up. Why do you qualify your knowledge with "I know Apollo" in this thread but say "I heard..." in the other thread about What ever happened to Lightning?

I heard the owner had some serious health issues so he isn't riding any longer. Also he dropped the bike and damaged the carbon fiber body. It was in for repair plus re-paint.

Why not "Apollo told me he's going through some health issues and that he dropped the bike"?

Are you sure you don't work for Lightning?

Those are referencing two different people and two different bikes.

Oh, my bad.

Got it, thanks for that Morgan.

The longer I watch this thread the greater the drama gets.  This hasn't been as much fun as the old Dark Shadows soap!

On the way home from Lightning delivering the motorcycle, I stopped at a sidewalk before entering the street but didn't notice the hole in the ground next to me. When I put my foot down, it landed in the hole, which had a gravel texture, causing me to lose my balance. I leaned over to prevent the fall, but the bike was too heavy. I focused on lowering it slowly, ensuring I wasn't trapped underneath. The damage included a broken mirror stalk, scratched brake lever, bent handlebar, and minor scratches on the body and footpeg, but no damage to the charging port.

I was in front of a sheriff's station, so I waved down a couple of officers who were leaving in their patrol unit. They came over and helped me pick up the bike. Everything was fine, and the motorcycle drove normally. I wouldn't call this a crash, but it's more of a tip-over, and a rather embarrassing one.

I only have one account in these forums, and I am no shill. Lightning offered me the opportunity to test some new batteries from a vendor, and I accepted. Since these batteries are not considered production batteries, I am under an NDA. Currently, my bike is back at Lightning for scratch and dent repairs.  I don't think the batteries I or others have will be available until Lightning considers them ready for production.

Ive learned the hard way that when the bike starts to go over at a stop or a very slow roll and you are on it, just hop to the side, try to guide it down as gently as you can but just get out of it's way.  How much does the lightning weigh?  Id assume it's top heavy as well?

Glad you didn't get caught up with it and / or injured.  The weight of these bikes will find you VERY quickly!

Dark Shadows, I remember that one!   But... all the DS junkies moved onto All My Children I believe when DS finally went off the air.  Well, there was the Night Stalker but that was a regular TV show.

As far as the bikes weight goes, I think 95% of all EV Bikes weight comes from the batteries.  As they all use similar batteries, it will probably be close other other brands.  How different is an EGO from a Ribelle? But yes, it is very heavy when lying on its side.
I was a young pup when I would come home and watch DS with a couple of high school girls.  They were supposed to be watching us kids.  I remember it being in black and white and very scary.  A couple of years back I watched the first couple of episodes on YouTube and was surprised at how cheap and cheezy it was.  I was also hoping for some skimpy long nightgowns!  But alas, TV was different back then and the young girls the Vampire was after seemed to sleep in thick clothing. Oh well...

The only time I ever dropped my 2018 Zero S with Power Tank happened the same way as Apollo describes his accident. I had just come to a stop at a traffic signal and I managed to put down my right foot right into a pothole at the street gutter. Once my bike started to tip over, there was no stopping it due to the weight of the PT. Fortunately, since my bike was blocking the travel lane, several people behind me got out of their cars and helped to pick the bike up for me so that they could be on their way. The only damage was a scratch on the bar end and a broken foot peg that was easily replaced with the passenger's foot peg, which turned out to be an identical part.

I once dropped my Zero SR with Pwr tank.  It was not possible to get the bike up without help. MUCH harder than a thousand-pound Harley! Because the SR falls down very flat. No way for one person to lift it up without special tools or help.

I recently put crash bars on my 2017 Zero SR with Pwr Tank. I have not dropped in since that one time, but perhaps the crash bars will help keep up the bike up far enough for me to be able to lift it up using the normal & correct procedure. But not yet tested in the real world and I hope to keep it that way.
