2022 Eva Ribelle bricked
« on: September 12, 2023, 04:48:38 AM »

Went to ride my Eva today and it was a brick. No screen, no blinking lights, nothing. When I plug it in, the light on the charger is indicated but no fan/sound coming from the Ribelle. Any thoughts? It's a 2022 with about 700 miles on it. Charge was 80% when it was unplugged a few days ago.

Start by checking the fuses.

See the 6th message here in this thread.  That is reply number five.

Great, I am sure that will fix it. Be sure to read the rest of my thread there for other related info.

I wonder why that fuse is not shown in any of the Energica manuals. But I assume it related to turning on the bike before the contactor is closed. And not much works when the contactor is open.

I now carry spares with the bike. You may want to do the same, make that fuse easy to replace.

Better to be prepared in case this happens...

Ordered a spare set as per your very helpful link.  Thank you @DonTom

Is this fuse, applicable to the Experia?  I haven't dug that far in, yet to even see.

I have not looked for it, but perhaps I should and if I find such, move it so it's easy to get to.

It was the 2020 SS9- I had that fuse in, and in trumphair's it was a 2022 Ribelle+. So perhaps it is used in all the Energicas.

And this fuse is not mentioned anywhere in any of the manuals. And it is the only fuse to give me any trouble on either of my Energicas.

Good question....we may have to dig a bit deeper methinks.

Gah! Replacing the fuse didn't fix it. Still bricked. Trying to add a pic of the inline I replaced. Any other ideas? All of the other fuses look fine. I'm like 6 hours from the nearest service center...

Is the fuse you removed also a .315 amp?  And check the NEW fuse. Did it blow?

Yes 315ma. I tried a couple of new ones. Doesn't appear as though they've blown. I didn't hear or see any signs of life when I put them in.

I just noticed something that does not look right. The fuse holder for your fuse has much thicker leads compared to mine. This could mean that your fuse holder is for a much more amperage fuse than mine.

This could also mean you found a different fuse from mine. But you said it was blown.

Do you still have the old fuse? Can you read all the numbers and letters around the fuse, and post a photo of the blown fuse here?

Be sure to check if the new .315 amp fuse is blown. If it looks good, still test it on an ohmmeter.

Yes it's 315ma. Here is a pic of the old one...it's blackened just left of center.

I see where it is blackened, but I do not see where it is open. Were you able to test the old fuse on an ohmmeter? Perhaps it was a good fuse to begin with.

But I would replace it anyway.

Perhaps your issue has nothing to do with that fuse.
