Using Chargepoint Stations with a broken latch
« on: August 15, 2023, 06:07:06 AM »

At my work there are two Chargepoint stations with two plugs each. Often some or most of the handles have the little latching clips broken off.

I found that trying to use them didn't work. I show the card, it says plug in, I put the handle in the bike, and it wont charge.

So... if the ones with intact clips weren't available I was out of luck.  I noticed that other people were successfully using the broken ones. But how?

I found out that the little switch the clip activates is still present on those handles, and you can push the switch with your finger, and mimic the make/breaks as if the clip was still intact. And when I do that they work.

Feel kind of stupid for not knowing that for so long, so if you didn't know... now you know.
