R&G Tail Tidy / Licence Plate Relocator
« on: July 11, 2023, 04:02:51 PM »

R&G offers an alternative to the OEM licence plate holder, but for the EGO.

AF1-Racing write on their website that the holder nevertheless might also fit an EsseEsse or Ribelle.

Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

I asked Ed from AF1 specifically about the Esseesse9 and this tidy and he indicated it would NOT fit. I was going to give it a shot prior to his email so I am glad to got back to me.

The reason it only fits the EGO is due to the position of the bolt holes being different.

On the EGO (and pre Ribelle EVA) the tabs on the plate holder fold inward, the 4 bolts securing the plate holder to the subframe are located inside the "walls" of the plate holder.
The EGO has a narrower tail section requiring the inboard mounting location.

On the EsseEsse9 and Ribelle the tabs fold outward, the 4 bolts securing the plate holder to the subframe are located outside the "walls" of the plate holder.
The EVA and EsseEsse9 side bags share the same mounting points as the plate holder to support the rear of the racks. The wider spacing of these bolts increases their strength.

@Demoni: Thank you very much for that helpful insight!

That leaves only the Swiss 3D-printed parts as suggested by @Valen.
But at 270 CHF  :o :o :o this is not a bargain! For anyone outside Switzerland taxes would come on top of that. Plus from the pictures one cannot see if the original plate light and  indicators can be used.

Moreover, I wonder if plastic is the right material choice for this. Exposed to sunlight most plastics get brittle over time. All in all that product is unacceptable :(

That 3D printed part is way too expensive for what you get.
You might want to reach out to Todd at SonicMoto http://sonicmotousa.com/ He has built a few tail tidy kits by cutting down the OEM plate bracket

@Demoni: Thanks for that! I already thought about modifying the original holder. Another project for the dark winter days...

I think I better re-use the original licence plate light - from my failed indicator project I know how finicky the bike reacts on different lamp power  ;)
