Level 2 Password
« on: May 24, 2023, 08:18:13 AM »

Hey all,

Recently did a chain swap on my FX and the speedometer is way off. I have the cables all set up to recalibrate my speedo, but I'm missing the level 2 password. Can someone PM it to me? Thanks!

The amount of people that make posts asking and then they end up getting shared in PMs, why aren't they just given out publicly? Either being put in the unofficial manual or a stickied thread on here would really be helpful.

With the level 2 and 3 passwords you can mess up the bike/make it illegal (wrong speedo value, battery stuff, whatever).
I think that's the reason they're not public. But yo... I don't mind.

I get that, but it's not like the people that are giving out the passwords are putting the recipients through a vetting process. Pretty much anyone can ask and as long as they're not rude they're going to get it. Also to make such changes to the bike isn't a simple or cheap process , it's not like they just download an app and connect to it by bluetooth. I feel like the people willing to hunt down and spend $400 or whatever on the cable are going to be fairly responsible about the whole thing.

Yes, but then again, the passwords don't work on all model years, and like in this thread, the guy who created it didn't even come back to it. So yea.. don't know how serious he was.

Sorry, been traveling. I'm very serious about this lol. It's a 2020 FX.

I understand why people wouldn't want to give out the password, but if I brick my bike or make it illegal (which it already is, as I modified it by putting the chain on, throwing off the speedometer by a lot), it's all on me.

My local dealer gave me the runaround saying "Zero never gave us access to the software to code the bike like that", so I took matters into my own hands.

Any help would be appreciated, and I agree that the level 2 (not sure what level 3 does) should be public knowledge since iirc the only thing level 2 allows you to do is change the tooth count.

I think the password won't work on your model year, but I sent it to you as pm

For anyone reading this, 2020 FX level 2 password that starts with "w" and ends with "e" does not work. Anyone else have any guesses on what the password could be? Also the publicly available "1.21gigawatts" does not work with a 2020 FX either

It's too new, the newer passwords are not known as far as I know

Nothing you can do via the MBB or BMS passwords can make the bike "illegal," at least not anywhere in the US. I'm not familiar with the plethora of laws other countries might have. Fact is, there is nothing you can do with any of the software-based access (including the Sevcon controller) to the bike that could make it illegal. The closest you could come with the RPM/vehicle speed display is a ticket for faulty equipment if you tried to argue yourself out of a speeding ticket by claiming your speedometer was off. On US roads, about the only aspects of the bike that have anything to do with its legality on public roads are the brakes, tires, lights, and reflectors.

In the EU you can get into problems if you change the power of the bike. Plus even in the US I am sure once you make the Sevcon unstable with wrong settings and run into some pedestrians, I am sure the court will not be happy about you tinkering with the powertrain.

why don't you just post the damned passwords on the board already.
People assume the risk themselves if they f up their bike.  If the person is a moron and bricks it, well maybe it's better they are not riding with that little common sense  ::shrug::

it's not like hacking direct tv or something where if it gets out and they get wind they can change it and make your 'hack' inoperable again. The password 'getting out' is not going to lock your bike up.

The level 1 password for some MBB's is '1.21gigawatts'.
The level 2 password for some MBB's is 'wideopenthrottle'.
Neither of these work for my 2020 FX.
