I am now charging my 2020 Energica Esse Esse 9- at 24 KW on the same CP charger that did not work last week. It now has 7.5.0.22 FW.

So great news and Cisco Grove is next.

I got to Cisco Grove and I first checked the version number. Here, it says it is the flakey 0.18 version, so I was very disappointed.

But I decided to try it anyway.

It works!!!  I am now charging at 23 KW here at Cisco Grove. It did not work on this bike when I tried the same charger a couple of weeks ago.

So I have a theory that can also explain why Grass Valley worked with the old version FW.  My guess is that they update the FW before they change the version number.

But whatever the reason, this location is an important one to me and it now works!  This one is important because I can charge my SS9- before taking Hwy 20 (or 80) back to Auburn.

I will check the version number here again in a couple of weeks.

Next stop is to try the Charge Point in Auburn. I will take Hwy 20 back to Auburn and charge up at the target there for a few minutes just to see if it works. Too close to home to bother with a full charge there, but I will check  the version number and see if it works regardless of the number.

So far, all good! Great news!

Misson completed.

All three CCS CPs work fine with my Energica SS9-.  The four CP CCS stns at the Auburn Target have the 7.5.0.22 version on the screen and so do both of them in Colfax.

The two in Cisco Grove still says it is version 7.5.0.18, but works perfectly on the same charger, same bike, that did NOT work a couple of weeks ago.

All the stations worked on the very first try, no BS at all. But the initiation was a bit on the long side on all three, around 15 seconds before the charge. So expect that. At least no timeouts.

IMO, these CPs work the best of all on our Enegicas.

But if you notice a version number of 7.5.0.18, still try it. That is the only way you will know for sure. I assume the one on Cisco Grove that says it is "7.5.0.18" is really running the "7.5.0.22" just the number itself is not updated.

So very good news, three checked and all three worked perfectly on the first try. CP is now my favorite CCS to use.

Next week, I will check the CP in Garnerville, NV. That is the last CCS before Bridgeport, CA on Hwy 395. I will probably ride my Experia all the way down the Bridgeport, CA then and get one of those delicious Baja Tacos from the Burger Barn there.  They are large, one is enough! The CCS chargers there are right across the street, but those are all
Electrify America at the Shell Gas Station.

I was just looking on Plugshare and I see there are a couple more CPs in the Auburn area I can check out tomorrow.

But I kinda assume they all work in central CA now.

BTW, forget about HWY 20 if you come up this way. I made a U-turn after ten miles. Too much construction on Hwy 20 these days. They are making MAJOR changes. Flagmen are stopping traffic for a good 30 minutes. So I made a U-turn and went back here on I-80.

But when I do take 20, I really enjoy the ride where I turn off into very shady Willow Valley.

I was looking on Plugshare and I see a few other CPs I can check out today, since I have nothing better to do (retired). But I assume they all work with Energicas in this area, but I will post here later the info.

I hope I have as much luck with the CCS CPs in the Reno area, such as the one in Garnerville, which is free to use! Paid for by the City of Garnerville, a very pro-EV place. Last fast charger (other than Tesla) on the way to Bridgeport, CA.

Today, I checked three more CP locations. But the Rocklin MB dealer here were both being used, so I rode back to Auburn from there.

Back here in Auburn, I first went to the Holiday Inn and charged with no issues. Both chargers there say they have the new 7.5.0.22 version.

I only charged up two KWH and then went on to here, where they have four CCS CPs, all four say they have the new 7.5.0.22 version in them. So I start a charge. In five minutes, the charging stops with the below error (see attached).

I didn't want to charge any more than that, as I was already above 80% SOC. So I didn't try again.  I don't know what to think of the error message.

I just discovered on Plugshare, that the number 3 CP charger at the Auburn Parking Lot is also only running for five minutes with cars as well.

It just happened that I picked a bad charger, has nothing to do with Energica or the updates.

This guy said with his Chevy Bolt, just a couple of days ago on the same CP CCS charger I used today that gave me the same issue:

"Charged my Bolt twice on #3 and both times it stopped charging after about five minutes. Now trying #1 and so far it's working."

I should add here that every CP I tried in the last couple of days started right up on the first try. I timed the initialization; it really was exactly 15 seconds.

So expect the charge to start 15 seconds after connecting.

I would say the CPs now work the best of them all on our Energicas.

Just because it's working in your little microcosm world does not mean it's working equally as well everywhere else.  Obviously it takes them weeks if not months to roll stuff out and even when, it still is quirky.  The way they are going by the time they get them all allegedly working, they'll update something else and it'll all be shit again.

I don't expect them all to work-yet. But I want to see the main ones that I will be using working. In the next few days, I will check the CP in Garnerville, NV, south of Carson City.

Now that CP knows Energicas exist, I doubt if we will ever see this problem again with CP.

I'll take that bet.
I am not all that sure I wanna place a bet on that, but I would hope they would save the info. for the next FW update.

I wonder if a time ever comes when they don't require another FW update, that everything just works as it should for all.

Anyway, for now, that new CP FW works great. First try, every time, after the 15 seconds initiation.

Lately, I have noticed a lot of EV-GOs down. And for a long time, such as here,  and here. And they don't seem to be in any hurry to fix them. And here, where they have three out of four not working. But they are down for everybody, unlike the CP problem that worked for all except Energicas (AFAIK).

I tried the CP chargers by Dennys in Tehachapi and Mojave today.   None of the units would initiate a charge on my ‘22 Eva Ribelle.  The Tehachapi units listed the software version as 7.5.0.18.  The touch screens on all of the Mojave units are fried so I couldn’t pull up the information pages. ??

Also sadly not uncommon.
