I suspect one of the major issues comes from Richard not understanding that the word, Production, has an actual meaning/definition. Here's a wiki page on it which lists the different rules for cars which is probably the same for bikes. The way Richard uses the word leads me to believe that as long as he or his employees are building a bike it is being produced or 'in production'. Building = producing = production. But that's not how it works. So, again, I suspect they use those words because they legit don't know any better.

But that's my theory.

Yep I agree.

The only time I've ever seen a Lightning in real life was when they had that open house at their old San Jose facility. Never seen one outside of that.

As for Nikola, I saw one this week on Highway 17 and it was going uphill!

The first time I saw a Lightning motorcycle was at the 2012 Plugin Day at a college parking lot in Santa Clara. Photo attached.

They returned to the show in 2013 with a larger display and a van with photo cells on the roof.

And then they were back at the show in 2014 with what was claimed to be a less expensive street-legal model that they said that they would be manufacturing to sell to customers that just wanted something to commute on. I seem to recall that I was told that the price of the bike would be around $16,000, or so. Another Lightning model that went nowhere - to my knowledge.
