I'm considering a 2022-23 generation 3 bike.

There plenty of reports about 2020-2021 SR/F and SR/S magic charging and sensitivity to water. Has this been fixed in 2022-2023 models?

1. Magic charging: Has the new battery design of the 2022s taken care of this?

2. Water: Are some of the 2022-2023s still sensitive to wet weather and water?

3. Any news on how the DSR/Xs are doing?

Thanks for any insights!

Quote from another thread: "The dash is waaay better made. Allegedly it - and the rest of the bike - is waterproof now. Not much difference otherwise that I've seen other than paint schemes. - princecc"

Thanks for your response.

This is good news. I have not seen any reports about magic charging or water issues from 2022-23 SR/F
SR/S owners either.

Just trying to see if there are any out there who have had problems. This information (or the lack thereof) could be very helpful to Zero as well.

Well except... my bike is now a 20 grand paperweight again.

Sorry to hear about that, Cas. What year is your bike? And what do you think the problem might be?

my 2021 srs, which cost me 30,000 euros with all options, has been with the dealer since January 2023 for insulation concerns.
I could drive with the fault on the dashboard, but impossible to recharge it.
return under warranty, but concern about a new charger that does not work, and no delays from zero countries grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
great bike but also super shit
I think the insulation concerns have been resolved on the 2022 models.

Well... "Isolation Fault" could be just about anything orange-covered anywhere leaking high voltage from the main battery to anywhere it shouldn't be, which is generally things I touch, so I'm kinda glad it won't start and kill me :)
Davant techs reckon the fans may still be at fault but they're also saying they might just have to also replace the entire battery under warranty (which might be interesting because they might give me the 15.6)

It's a 2020 bike, so one of the early ones. It's never run quite right since I bought it - first sign of a wash and it would play up, so it's spent a lot of its life filthy :(

Cas :)

My 2019 SR/F had water ingress issues - bike was off the road for 4 months (I was lent another SR/F by Zero for the duration)
Once my 2019 bike came back it was bulletproof - road it through all weathers for the next 2.5 years.

Got a new 2022 SR/F in November last year - rode it through Nov/Dec, which was fairly dry for a British winter - no issues.
Jan 2023 we had some really wet weather; first properly wet day (rain pouring down and roads drenched) and on the way to work I got isolation fault, battery module ineligible and of course the good 'ole Check Engine Light (CEL).
Got to work fine, let the bike drip dry for an hour and then plugged it in for a charge - charge worked fine.
On ride home, no longer raining but roads still soaked. Same warnings all popped up on the dash.
*sigh
Again let it drip dry for an hour or so and then plugged it in and it happily charged.
Next morning bike was fine (road dry, no rain) and it has been okay since but I haven't had any really wet weather to ride in since early Jan.

So, have they solved the waterproofing?.. I guess not   :(

Last year I purchased a 2022 DS and I live in BC, I think so far the only months I wasn't able to ride were December and November. I have on more then one occasion been caught in some heavy rain and so far my bike has performed perfectly. I do my best to not ride in wet conditions as I have heard some horror stories but living in the Pacific Northwest rain is never too far away.

It looks like water is mainly a problem for the generation 3 models and not for generation 2 (like your DS).

And SkyYeti's experience shows (2022 SR/F) that the problem still haunts even the latest generation after 2022 with the newest battery.

I have a 2020 SRS premium. For two years it had no problems, then starting having ISO faults in even light rain. My guess is the foam degraded around the gap at the top of the battery pack at the rear where cables go in from the chargers. This is
I hope where water was going in. Here's two pictures.. the gap with the charger removed so you can see it, and what it looks like after I filled it with silicon sealer. There are actually two gaps, one behind the other, and I sealed them both. You cant see the other smaller gap in the pictures well though. Summers coming and I'll see if I was right about it.
