Dead 2019 Zero DS
« on: January 05, 2023, 08:18:23 PM »

I’ve been watching this forum since before I took the plunge and bought my DS and I saw how helpful this community is. Now it’s my turn to ask for your help.
Any help would be appreciated.
My bike is showing a multitude of codes after parking up at work.
I can see what the codes relate to on the unofficial manual but why so many?
I have the following codes
25
27
31
45
48
49
A check engine light.
And the power bars on the display pulse.
It won’t move or charge.
I’ve tried the reset buttons on the front of the brick but they haven’t helped.
Is there a way to switch it all off and on again?

All sorted through Pidcocks Nottingham.
The fault was in the throttle, the new one has a new part number which suggests to me there have been developments in that part.
Hope this helps anyone who experiences similar issues.

Zero DSR 2018 here. I'm having a similar issue.  I've emailed Zero with my bike logs but haven't gotten a response as yet.

I think I may be getting similar errors.  From what I can see there appears to be a low motor voltage error and maybe line contactor error with Sevcon gen4 motor controller?  Unfortunately no dealerships nearby in order to check

07525     02/21/2023 09:07:27   DEBUG: Module 00 Contactor is now Closed

The first error 0x45C9 is for low capacitor voltage, but that is probably result of the contactor's not closing because the second error 0x5101 is only thrown when the Sevcon is issuing the command to close the contactor but isn't seeing the result -- battery voltage to the main bus terminals. The BMS ultimately controls the contactor, but from the limited number of posts I've seen on the failures, when the BMS chooses not to activate the contactor, that is shown in the logs rather than a bunch of Sevcon errors. Or at least the BMS fault is thrown in with the Sevcon errors. So my first thought is either a wiring issue or failure of the contactor. That said, it looks like your problem self-corrects when the Sevcon is restarted, so it might be a problem with the capacitors.

I'll add that there was another guy on here recently who ran into a similar issue while messing with his controller via the DVT software wherein he accidentally messed up an encoder setting. Interestingly, his debug output was indicating capacitor charge and contactor open errors. Assuming you haven't been messing with your controller's programming, maybe you have a loose wire to your encoder.
