Eureka!! (Bluetooth connectivity)
« on: November 08, 2022, 08:25:10 PM »

I think I've FINALLY discovered the pattern where the Android app either doesn't connect, or connects but can't properly identify the model of my motorcycle (2021 SR).  If the battery falls below 60% it seems to have difficulty connecting and if it does connect at least 50% of the time it'll claim it's an "UNKNOWN MODEL."  If the battery is nearly fully charged, it connects almost immediately, and correctly identifies the bike.

This applies to both the old app as well as the updated NextGen app (which has been updated to work with the Gen2 bikes).

I found it (the original app) has always difficulties connecting. Once this worked, I've set up Custom mode to my preference, and that's it - I don't have the patience to wait for creppy software.

I won't bother to try the next gen app; I can't see any merits from that. Zero needs to step up way more than they may imagine to make this software acceptable,

I still struggle with bluetooth. Works great on an iphone, but on android 13 it does not work. The Zero app identifies the bike and the bike shows a bluetooth PIN on the dash, but my phone does not kick off the dialog to enter it.

Yeah, so much for THAT idea.  Battery was at 87% this morning.  Phone was at 100%.  Neither the old NOR the new app could identify the bike even though they both connected.  So their software is STILL a piece of shit that needs serious work...

Another update:  At lunch time the battery was at 60%, but both apps connected.  HOWEVER< when I retracted the sidestand to ride off, it did NOT switch into the dashboard mode but remained on the model page.  So this is yet ANOTHER bullshit behavior for this poorly-written software!  If Zero wants me to beta test their software, they should PAY me for it!!
