I am a brand new owner and I like it even more than I expected. I am a new motorcycle rider, but I did own an Yamaha ATV at one time. I have not had a chance to really test out the Enertia to its full potential as I have tons of snow, ice, sand along with below freezing temperatures at the moment. On my one test ride, I noticed that the acceleration is smooth, and the bike feels solid. In time, I will have more experience to share.

I see the next improvements to future Enertias in the way the seat/power cord is accessed. Right now it seems too awkward in my opinion.

Also, I bought my Enertia without test riding it. I based the decision on other people's experiences; like you are also considering.

Another plus is that I have already had people try to buy it off of me.

Thanks, the pictures online do not do it justice. It looks much better in person in my view.

I am watching the weather all the time now, looking for a chance to ride. Spring will be really nice this year. I did my test ride when it was 23F outside.

I went with the standard seat, but I think the upgrade seats looks nice. The standard seat works fine for me. The seat was not one of my buying priorities at the time. If you like the looks of it, I would go for it.

Sounds cold ....... it dropped to 60 today and everybody was wearing ear muffs.

Tax Credit Question:  If I finance the bike, is the 10% tax credit applied to the full sale price or the portion that is paid during this year?

I'm not a tax attorney, but I think you take the credit during the year you purchase the vehicle and that it is not applied pro rata depending on your financing plan.

Plug-In Electric Vehicle Credit (Section 1142): The new law also creates a special tax credit for two types of plug-in vehicles — certain low-speed electric vehicles and two- or three-wheeled vehicles. The amount of the credit is 10 percent of the cost of the vehicle, up to a maximum credit of $2,500 for purchases made after Feb. 17, 2009, and before Jan. 1, 2012. To qualify, a vehicle must be either a low speed vehicle propelled by an electric motor that draws electricity from a battery with a capacity of 4 kilowatt hours or more or be a two- or three-wheeled vehicle propelled by an electric motor that draws electricity from a battery with the capacity of 2.5 kilowatt hours. A taxpayer may not claim this credit if the plug-in electric drive vehicle credit is allowable.

I am planning to take the 10% credit this year based on the total price paid. The tax code is far from clear. If I am taking the credit too early, I feel that I can argue that it is my interpretation of the tax law. I am also not qualified to give you tax advice, but I thought you might be interested in what I will be doing.

Over 300 miles on mine. Riding it to work tomorrow. Rode it to work Monday too.  I have had at least four motorcycles, this is my fifth. The motor is set up from the factory to act like a 250cc engine. It actually seems faster because of the non shift factor. Kind of slow at the start and then it seems to accelerate faster.
I have the faux-suede seat. It feels very nice and I doubt it would heat up from being out in the sun like a standard black seat (it is light gray). Only complaint I have heard is that the upgrade seat takes awhile to dry out if it gets wet. Mine has never been wet - yet.

I notice that the manufacturer gives the 0 to 30 mph time.  What happens from 30 to 50 or 60 that is so bad? does it take a long time for the bike to hit 60?

Have you talked to a salesman yet? The 0 to 40 is fast enough for me; I have not taken mine to higher speeds yet.

I don't think there is any problem going from 30 to 50. I am curious if you have seen that metric advertised on gas-powered motorcycles before?

I Haven't talked to a salesman yet......... generally, the advertised acceleration is 0-60 in probably all vehicles...... this is the first time I've seen 0-30.......

I just read on another forum that a standard Enertia was tested and went 0 - 60 in 16 seconds.
In theory, it could be programmed to act with different performance configurations, but I am far from an expert. If it is a deal breaker for you, I would ask someone specifically qualified to answer that question. The best I can really offer is my real world experience.
