If you look at the date on that article it was an April Fool's joke. That being said, I really like the sound my Energica makes. Loud enough to get noticed around town, i.e. no issues with pedestrians while still quiet enough to rip around and not bug the neighbors. ;)

I tried riding my Zero around without wearing ear plugs yesterday and I was amazed how silent it was. Much quieter than riding a bicycle due to the belt drive. I really have to be careful when riding around a busy shopping center parking lot as pedestrians don't know that I am behind them and I hate to use my horn to let them know that I am there.

The energica "whine" seemingly serves as an effective dear whistle...on several instances on my commute to work recently, early morning.

Observation made is dear is frozen in middle of road staring at 3rd party vehicle headlights then suddenly freaks and runs off as Eva approaches scene decelerating hard under regen...

Not sure if (2) encounters like this proves anything.

Has anyone on this list ever encountered a dear crossing when riding an energica?

Zero has the quietest bikes made, AFAIK. The Energica has gears and a chain to make noise, unlike Zeros.

The Energica noise is loudest at around 40 MPH. It doesn't bother me at all, but you will hear it.

The tire noise in my Tesla M3 on some roads is MUCH worse and can be bothersome.

I was actually pretty surprised how much quieter the 2023 Eva ribelle was compared to my previous 2020 Eva 107. It is MUCH quieter on the newer bikes at all RPMs.

Do you have any idea what changed?

Mid-Late 21, I think they were gonna wait for EICMA but it made better production sense to announce it in June/July and immediately swap all production over.

Yeah...I was a little bummed out my early 2021 Ribelle didn't get the EMCE motor but oh well, I'm still having a lot of fun riding it around like a crazy fool! ;)

I received my '22 MY Ribelle in July of '21 and was probably one of the last deliveries of the previous gen motor.
