New SRF - what accessories would you recommend
« on: July 17, 2022, 03:27:20 PM »

Hi !

Just bought a new SRF. Some accessories I bought:
    - tank protection sticker (i have seen that the shiny plastic needs protection)
    - lcd screen protection film (same)
    - Zero led turn signals (the reseller tells me that he had repeated issues, even when he correctly configures the firmware for led signals if not zero's)
    - T2 - T2 triphase cable (120 € adaptable, length 3 meters in order to fit in the tank) and T2 - AC cord (200 € adaptable)

I was thinking about changing the mirrors - do you have suggestions & pictures for that ? What I need is keeing a good rear view, but reducing the bike' width to make lane splitting easier. So i wont use bar end mirrors which increase the width.

I might also remove the premium handle ends which add 2 centimeters on each side.

Any other idea ?

After about a year, and after trying out a much smaller and cheaper Chinese kit, I mounted a MRA highway windshield (~100€), later extended with another Chinese kit on the top. With these and the plastic sheet in the middle, I finally can ride without earplugs, and listening to birds instead of wind turbulences.

I’ve been using a pair of these for the past 4 yrs/48+K miles on my 2016 DSR.

I also added a small round spot mirror that has a 360° rotating base that allows directing the angle somewhat.

Still holding up tho every now and then in the winter have to re-tension pinch screw to keep the half’s from self folding when hitting bumps in the road.

I got the Shad luggage case rack, top and side cases. Extremely handy for storing helmet and charge cables, plus any other luggage you need on longer trips.

I also got the LED turn signals. They are great! Should be standard on all Zeros. They should have given it an LED headlight too, and eventually I will get one. I also use the RAM mount phone holder and the rack that holds the top case. I didn't get an actual top case but the rack adds some sorely needed mounting points so that I can strap stuff on. Finally, I've added Barkbusters handguards because I was too cheap to buy the official Zero/Cycra handguards. They keep my hands warm in cold weather and also hide my broken brake lever (it's only cosmetic, the tip snapped off in a fall). Because of the handguards I have not personally felt the need for heated grips.

Yes, exactly that one.

MRA HIGHWAYSHIELD CLEAR OR TINTED INCL. MOUNTING KIT

It cannot be seen in that picture but if you like me top it up with a smaller screen, then above 100 kph the wind force will be greater than what the original fixation allows. I added a pair of 3M removable hooks, along with two plastic straps fixed on the bike. That keeps it steady.

Here you are.
I tried smaller ones but the summer heat weakened the adhesive too much. I ended up selecting the largest pair I could find. I also used a heat gun to make them as closely curved as the windshield below them. They came in white and I later painted them in black. These are now stable, lasting longer than my last set of tires.
