2020 SR/F front brake pulsing
« on: June 29, 2022, 08:25:29 AM »

11.5k miles on my 2020 SR/F and I can feel the brakes pulse or surge with each revolution especially as you come to a stop.

I did search through the forum.  I will clean with denatured alcohol.  But in case I need to buy pads and rotors, I started looking at AF1Racing.
I could not find the rotor.
And I found many options for the pads.
Can anyone link me to the rotors and give advice on which pads to get?
I would rather have the right one than the cheapest one.

Edit:  I guess this is the rotor

I have had good luck with EBC pads. Check the rotors to be sure that they are really warped by using a stiff wire attached to the forks and almost touching the brake disc. Rotate the wheel and observe by eye if there is any movement at the edge of the rotor that would indicated they are really warped.  They may be just covered with an uneven coating of pad material that alters the friction of the rotor at each revolution. A good cleaning of the rotor and the installation of new pads might be all that you need to fix your braking problem.

I don't think that includes the rotor. Email them. Email address is shown here under "contact us".

That is the rotor, it matches up with the parts diagram

OIC. But I wonder why they call it: "CARRIER ASSEMBLY"

There are threads here where a fellow , if I recall correctly he went by the user name nerveasy or some such, helped me and others with the same problem.

I had both front rotors warp within a few thousand miles. One was warped already when I left the dealer.
I replaced them both with new ones from AF1 and in a couple thousand miles, one of them had warped again and had cracks. I don't use the brakes much, much less abuse them, and I know how to ride a bike as I've been commuting on them daily for decades. I did nothing wrong. The brake disk material or fab process is utter rubbish.

Nerveasy's solution was to replace the Zero branded brakes with a substitute one made by EBC, and there are some different carrier bolts you need that come off an R1 or something like that.

At first, EBC sent me the wrong disks and it was because of my order that they corrected their parts catalog. You can find it in there now as the right number.

Since I did that, I had no more problems. Before you spend more money on these crap disks I suggest you look for that and consider it.

I've put about 20k miles on my EBC disks add pads and they are working as well as the day I put them on.

Good luck.
