Smaller engine sprocket for a FXS 2017
« on: June 12, 2022, 02:44:11 AM »

Hi !

My dealer told me that there is a smaller sprocket option for FXS adding 5-10% torque (of course at the cost of a lower speed). Did anybody here about this ? Do you have a reference - could not find it...

The chain conversion kit has lower gearing, comes out to 1:5.4 compared to 1:5 stock (or 1:4.5 for some of the 14.4 bikes). I don't know whether it changes the top speed, whether the limit is based on the speedo reading or the motor RPM.

Thanks ! Yes but he told me it is not the chain kit, but just changing a sprocket & keeping a belt.

Was he specifically talking about the FXS? If not he may have been on about swapping one of the 14.4 bikes from 20t to 18t.

The most simple way to find something like this is to go to AF1Racing.com and look at the spare parts catalogs.
https://www.af1racing.com/2014-2020-FX-FXS-Spare-Parts-Catalogs

Here is the one for the 2018 FXS:

https://www.af1racing.com/store/ProdImages/st3/18FXS.pdf

Page 29 shows that there are two front sprockets:

18 tooth: 30-08117
20 tooth: 30-08116

Thanks ! This is a 96 € part, exactly what I looked for - not existing in 2017, but it is proposed in 2018. It should increase torque by 10% and 0-60 time by 10%, exactly what I was looking for !

I didn't realise the 2017 models ran the 20t sprocket, I figured that was only put on the more powerful models.

I wonder if it would be easier to wheelie my 2017 FXS with an 18 tooth sprocket?
