No, electric bikes are still better off NOT using the highways.

I'd love to see the electric equivalent of a modern Goldwing.

I've said that the best fitting bike to be electrified is Goldwing (and similar). They weigh a ton anyway so you can have lots of batteries for range and speed.

I bet you could make an electrified GW and it be essentially the same weight as it was before, and same range.

Cas :)

Are you aware that a&s bmw in Roseville is now a energica dealer?
Their website claims that they will have bikes to test ride in june
Mark, Nice meeting you today at A & S.

For info to others: A & S cannot accept any orders at this time. They will call me when they can accept orders for the Experia, which probably won't be a long wait. They say they need to be trained  on the Energica first which should soon happen.

I had a busy day riding around in Sacramento on my SS9-.  I rode 72 miles of mixed and was down to a few SOC when I got here to the GreenLots CCS charger in Roseville at the 7-11 store which is part of the Shell gas station.  Perhaps most here have heard that Greenlots is now owned by Shell. Perhaps soon more Shell gas stations will have CCS/ CHAdeMO chargers soon.  No J-1772 here.

I had lunch in West Sacramento, Hong Kong Style food. I first went to the Ham Radio Outlet in Sacramento.

As soon as I get charged up, I am headed home to Auburn.

Wouldn't the Experia cost less, since it's significantly lower on power?

Also wonder if the new 22.5 batteries will be made standard for all bikes going forward, and if we get that new dashboard in a FW update.

Have they removed bluetooth from all the new bikes?

Good questions.

Energica has always shrugged legacy product compatibility so don't hold your breath on anything new.

The Experia, for reasons you mention, should not exceed the cost of a SS9 / Ribelle from simply the loss in torque standpoint, no?

TopBox is everything from a utility / commuting point of view and that itch was satisfied so the new bike does not really appeal but waiting to hear end-user reviews.

Perhaps done because of safety concerns because of the added stuff. Also, so one cannot  drain the battery down too fast.

Loss of a little torque doesn't mean much too me. It should have plenty as is for any type of touring.

I don't expect the price to be a big bargain, but we will soon find out.

$25,880 for the Launch Edition

https://configurator.energicamotor.com/us/configure/experia_my2022/version

Launch Edition comes with all the racking and storage cases. I suspect this is a limited edition and we'll see some additional options in a few months.

What type of options would you expect?  Price seems very reasonable, IMO. However, that is the BS price. The OTD price will be thousands higher.

Interesting that it's so close in price to the other bikes. MVetter was right about the battery being the main cost I guess.

Seems a bit ridiculous to me, UK pricing puts it at £3600 ($4.5k) more than the 21.5 SS9. Yeah it's newer and lighter (although for about a grand more the SS9 RS is supposed to be the same weight) but it's also 20kW down. I don't know much about Energicas so maybe I'm missing something.

You may now pre-order here, where it did NOT work last night, they really did mean June 1!

I just now placed my pre-order.

I wonder if I were the first to do such in the USA.  I just received this email after the pre-order:

"Dear Donald,We have received your details correctly. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

That's because it's the Launch Edition that includes full luggage, heated grips, fancy bar ends, etc. I would expect the base model to cost roughly the same as the Ribelle when it's available.

So still £2k more than the SS9, £1k more than the RS to get rid of the weight advantage. The difference in battery capacity is negligible so really the trade off is a significant drop in power for fairings, and while that is a significant thing that you can't easily add to an SS9 it doesn't make sense to me in terms of cost.

The likely advantage for this bike is the cooling.
I would think it will fix the thermal cut back that they get with hard riding and multiple CCS charging sessions.

Zerofun YT channel has a video on it.

As I mentioned I'm not an Energica guy but I remember hearing about them improving their cooling fairly recently (think it was something about a single cooling circuit instead of two), do the newer versions still have that issue? And if so, it makes me wonder if just turning down the power on the more powerful models to match the Experia would result in the same thermal performance.

Also, is anyone else wondering if Sony might go after them for the name? If that's even possible, I know it's not related to phones at all but it's a fairly unique name.

Not when you have to walk that one KWH worth with the bike!
