True, although all of the group riding that I've done has been riding 30-50 mi, then getting lunch, a little more riding and then heading home. This bike can do all of that on one charge.

I agree that e-moto's don't pair well with gas bikes on longer rides, though.
It's best to own both for now. I see you're in Davis, not far from me and I own the same bikes you do.

Let's go on electric bike ride one of these days. I have my 2020 Energica here in Auburn right now. I just rode it here yesterday from Reno. I live in Auburn as well as Reno. I am retired, so I have a lot of free time.

It sure looks like this new Energica Sport Tourer will be my next bike, from what I have seen so far. The reduced power and torque means nothing to me as all the electric bikes have more than I will ever need to use.

I wonder when we will be able to order it from Cal-Moto - - or better yet, when they will have it in stock.

I am glad Energica recently sold so many Ribelles to reduce the demand for this new bike!

I wonder if they also managed to squeeze in a 6KW AC charger!

I also wonder what the price tag will be!  But regardless, I expect it to be my next bike!  See my thread here.

I just tried to "pre-order" cannot be done yet in the USA. Stuck at the "dealer" entry. It cannot find any dealers for the USA.

But I now see it cannot be ordered until June 1.  I have to wait a full day to order!

No, I had no idea. But I do recall Lawrence saying they would like them to be an Energica dealer.  In fact, that was the very first time I have even heard of A&S. Since then, I did a little business with them. I purchased my two tires for my TTSE there, which they mounted on my rims.

Perhaps I will trade in a gas bike this time as I don't have much room left after selling my 3rd house.

I thought perhaps Reno/Sparks (BMW) would have been a better choice as there is nothing Energica in all of NV.

But A&S is close enough to be helpful to me in Auburn.

Thanks for that useful information! I will go there later and see if I can place my order this week.  There are some specs I would like to see, but I have already seen enough to know I want it!

Absolutely! There are a few people with e-moto's in this area that I've been meaning to ride with, actually, and they're all named some variation of James, funnily enough. One has an SS9+, one's got a DS, and one has a DSR. I've also met some cool people with gas bikes who asked me all kinds of questions about the SS9 and would probably enjoy riding along.

They didn't. It doesn't bother me personally since I don't do long days in B-road country, but I've now realized after talking to enough people about it that it's a big deal to many potential buyers.

I heard 26k Euros + VAT (~30k) for the launch edition that has the luggage and included accessories in Europe. Since Euro prices on Energicas have always been higher than US prices, I'd guess $25-27k for that version and then the same ~23k as the Ribelle for the base model in the Fall.

I am good on just about any day that I am here in Auburn, so pick a day and place. Perhaps better riding areas up this way, but I am willing to go anywhere. And a lot of CCS up this way just as in your area.

It won't be a deal breaker to me, but the Reno area south all the way to Minden has countless free J-1772s but not enough CCS. Only one CCS in all of Carson City. And a line of cars waiting to charge the last time I was there.

At A & S, cycles they want $26,682 for the 2023 Ribelle, so I expect the 2023 Experia to cost more than that.

That gives me an idea, we could meet there if you want, at A&S. Tomorrow sometime? I was planning on going there tomorrow anyway. I have not been in there for a couple of years.

Or pick a day and time and place,  but not too early as I don't do mornings well. I will take my Energica there, I doubt if there will be other 2020 blue Esse Esse 9's there, so we will know who each other is.

I'm a student right now in end-of-quarter crunch mode so I can't make it tomorrow but I'll be home free after June 9th so we can definitely figure out a time after that. Anyone else in the general Sacramento / NorCal area is welcome to chime in as well, of course, and we can all find a meet-up time.

Okay. I will still be there tomorrow at A&S and it looks like TF104 will also be there.

I will see you on some date after June 9.

A few personal thoughts/opinions:
  • I don't think this will qualify as a tourer in the USA until the CCS charging network improves along the interstates and other freeways.
  • I like that it's got a lower power output than even the SS9- which I think helps to differentiate the various models and provide reasons to pick different ones (personally, although I like the idea of the Experia, I've gotten addicted to the power of my Ribelle and I don't think I can drop down.)
  • I love the addition of a top case, make the Experia the ideal commuter IMHO. I wish/hope Energica releases a revised mounting kit for the SS9/Ribelle to be able to use Givi Monokey cases like this. The added range, lighter weight, and additional storage space almost makes me want to pick one up to replace my Ribelle but like I said above, I love the power of my Ribelle too much

Overall, kudos to Energica for providing more options for e-motorcycling. I'm excited to see what the next 3+ years will bring from not only Energica, but Zero and Livewire as well.

Wouldn't the Experia cost less, since it's significantly lower on power?

Also wonder if the new 22.5 batteries will be made standard for all bikes going forward, and if we get that new dashboard in a FW update.

Have they removed bluetooth from all the new bikes?

Motor isn't the super expensive components. Batteries, on the other hand...

I see this more for solo touring unless you're touring with similar eMotorcyclists.

The biggest problem with group e-touring is charging - every electric bike need a station every 100-130ish miles. That's a serious disadvantage to a day-long group ride. Right now in the UK it would be a showstopper (even with a lot of decent chargers in a small country) even if there were say just 4 of you.

However, if all your mates are on ICE bikes the only battle is to convince them to stop at a charging station for coffee - that's doable.

No, electric bikes are still better off NOT using the highways.

I'd love to see the electric equivalent of a modern Goldwing.
