Scott's previous attempts were on his SR/F with Rapid Charger and dual J inlet rig. He has since upgraded to a brand new 2022 SR/S. Rumor has it Zero gave him the VIP treatment, including early unlocks of Cypher Store for the full 17.3kWh battery. He is hoping to break Steven Day's record of 93 hours on a stock Energica Ribelle. Hopefully Scott will arrive safe and sound in Oceanside, CA, sometime this week.

So assuming the full 13kw charging unlocked and he has a Tesla tap as well as his double J setup.
Good luck and safe travel.  I hope he gets plenty of rest.  It's good for the PR for electric bikes but not to push it into unsafe red line.

I know Steven Days is about to do a supported Cannon Ball Run route ride so these bikes will be all over the place.

I watched all of his updates, so far (he seems to be doing great).  No indication he has the charging or battery "unlocks".  Just the premium 15.6 battery.  I could be wrong.

Yup yup, been watching eagerly. I need my record broken so I can do it again with the old girl - minus a flat tire this time, and go for 80 hours. I think the new 70% SOC tapering feature may have seriously gimped him this run though. :(

Pushing the limits, I love it.  Wish I had the pocket book (and time) to participate.  Not sure I could charge as hard as these guys.  Fun to watch.  I did hear about his thoughts on the charging curve as well, as it comes down closer to 70%.  I need to know if he has all the unlocks for bigger battery and 13kw charging, or if it's just the 15.6 battery and 12kw charging.  every little bit helps.

Are these options available yet? This sounds like an ideal situation for Zero to enable this on his bike (as a beta maybe) if it gets them better press coverage.

On bluelane.io, how can you tell the total time?   Or total riding time compared to the total charging time?   It only seems to show a time (12 hours, 48 minutes, 54 seconds right now).   Certainly there are at least one or maybe two 24 hour days that need to be added to that.   No one can traverse the USA within 12 hours on a ground based vehicle.

I noticed the time thing too on that website.  I'm guessing it doesn't span multiple days correctly.  It appears he didn't make a record this time.  I think it was under 100 hours, which is great still.  Haven't seen an update yet.

Bluelane glitched on time; not sure what's up with it. Regardless the final time was 98 hours. Within the last 500 miles it appears the connector to one of his sets of charging units wiggled loose. Not realizing why he was only pulling half charge speed, it took him a couple stops to take the bike apart and examine connections. As he had just been through Phoenix he thought it was heat related at first, which seemed a solid guess.

Anyway he pulled into Oceanside safe and sound early this morning, had breakfast with some of the lads, and is presumably completely unconscious in a fluffy bed somewhere now. It was a Herculean effort, and he definitely deserves all the encouragement and congratulations on the effort if you cross paths with him. He's supposedly going to be in California for the next month so I expect he'll be riding around a bit.

I ended up watching all his video stop reports on YT.   Too bad about the charger issue.   Not sure if he would have beat the record even with the charger not giving him issues though.   Seems like everything has to be perfect; weather, charging, charger availability, for the trip to be a record.

I also wonder whether DC fast charging would help much on this type of trip.   Given the range of the bike (or virtually any electric motorcycle) and the availability of DCFC charging across TX, NM and AZ, it seems like DC chargers are spread too wide for EV motorcycle travel.   They seem more suited for EV cars with at least 250-300 miles of range.  I suppose if you could DC fast charge at every other stop it would help somewhat.

I'll say that the storm he hit in TX came through Ga the other night and it was a house shaker here.  I can't imagine riding through it in wide open TX.  He's got guts.  I wonder how much drag those side cases cause.  I know he needed more equipment and cords but it all adds up.

I do want to hear the full story of if he had the 17kWh pack unlock or not and if the 70% SOC cut back is a firmware set up or if it was a thermal cutback.

As for the charging CCS vs AC, at this point it's a quality vs quantity issue.  More AC chargers plus RV parks but at a much slower rate.

Very respectable showing though for him and the Zero.

You realize the record he was trying to break is held by an Energica that exclusively used DC Fast charging, right? It definitely would have helped.

Yup. CCS is every 50-100 miles along the highway. No need to pull over and try to find two open J plugs on different circuits. I saw one stop he had to move to 3 different locations to find chargers open. Perks of CCS also, often/usually 4-8 at each stop. Only been to a handful where there was just one.

Record he was up against was a stock original Ribelle. Flat tire in Texas that wouldn’t stay plugged. Caught in a heavy thunder and rain storm. New tires. Spent the night in a hotel drying off. Still made it in 93 hours. Stuff happens, the randomness is damn near 50% of the chances one will break the record.

Honestly I haven't been keeping up with these record breaking attempts.   I guess I did figure it was an Energica though.   I assume with the 21.5 kWh battery pack?

Last time I looked at ABRP website, there were some stretches across TX/NM/AZ without DC fast chargers within 50 to 100 miles of each other.   I guess that would slow down an Energica since their level 2 charging rate seems to be 3kW per the website?

Texas seems to be the most troubling state.
