Rust
« on: March 12, 2022, 11:18:13 PM »

Has anyone else here had issues with rust?
I got my Ribelle 3 months ago and ok, it's been hard to keep the salt off but it's kept in a garage, sprayed down regularly, and my forks already have pits.

Looks pretty bad.  Needs oil for sure.  If it gets down into the fork "foot" threads, nothing good comes from that.
Where is the salt coming from?  If it's road salt for snow melt, then really you should have known better.
My old Zero lived at the coast but only rusted the kickstand spring.

They salt the roads here anytime the forecast says it's gonna be less than 4C so if you ride at all in winter you cannot avoid it. It's worth noting that this isn't the first bike I've ridden through winter and I've never had it this bad in such a short amount of time and I've taken greater precautions with it (garaged and power sprayed regularly).

Took it over to the lovely folks at English Electric today and they had a look at it, we're referring it back to Energica under warranty.

Also had a good look at the seat latch issue I talked about in another thread, that one remains a huge mystery, there's definitely something wrong but we can't figure out what (also the bracket that holds the latch is not as strong as it looks)!

Im glad they are looking at that under warranty. It's far too bad and too soon to just be down to road salt.

Am I out of line for thinking this is something Marzocchi should be dealing with instead of Energica?

Yeah, it's Energica's problem... well actually... it's the dealer's problem as far as the OP is concerned, and who blames who further down the line is none of our concern.

Ultimately but it goes through the supply chain. It's probably just a bad batch of stanchions, a headache for Energica for sure but Marzocchi will be footing the bill.

The more I hear about Energica the more I like them.

Just had my bike over to English Electric to have the fork stanchions done, nice shiney new ones.

They also talked to Energica and did some modification on the latch so now my seat latches again!
