Diginow charger app not working
« on: October 25, 2021, 08:52:26 PM »

As the attached immages show, the BLE app only finds an unnamed device. Cannot connect so cannot change settings.
Am I doomed?

A long shot, but, is the DigiNow controller connected to the motorcycle?
If not, then that may be the issue, if it's, I will check the connection, and always use dielectric grease on the contacts.

Good luck.

Yes  I have 2 Diginow chargers that both try to charge at ~16 amps each. But I have a 30 amp (230 volt) circuit that blows fuses when both are connected. So I am limited to 1 charger unless I can get the app to specify a lower charging rate... like it is supposed to.

1. Did it worked before, and now, for some reason it doesn't work anymore?
2. Did you tried a different phone/app, like if you have an iPhone, try with an Android.

Thaanks Tom,

Only recently have I been able to try both chargers at once. It failed as shown... repeatedly.

Although I have tried more than one phone, I have always used the same phone app.

I will try a different app.

Still not clear if you ever connected to the DigiNow controller via Bluetooth previously. No mater how many chargers are connected to the motorcycle, there is only one controller.
How is the DigiNow controller connected to the motorcycle, the CAN connector that was going to the original onboard charger, or at the big brown  Auxiliary Charging port?

The systems from the unfortunately bankrupt Diginow, used a CAN controller and one or more chargers. In my case they connect only through the aux charging port. (I have removed the original Zero charger.) The charger(s) are controlled only by Diginow controller. That controller defaults to operating the chargers at their full 'power'. In addition to the AC input and DC output lines, there is a 4 wire cable that connects each charger to the Diginow controller.

Bluetooth is only to modify the power and final voltage for the charging operation. I have never got that bluetooth working so am stuck with full power from each charger. That is too much for the AC supply, so I can only use a single charger to avoid blowing fuses (it is a fuse box not a breaker panel).

I am very familiar with the DigiNow systemS , I have the V2.0 that doesn't have Bluetooth capability, and doesn't connect to the CAN of the motorcycle, and also I have the V2.5 that has the Bluetooth capability, but , if I remember correctly, won't connect with your phone if the CAN connection with the motorcycle isn't made.

Can you post some pictures of your setup, especially of the Big brown connector that goes to the Auxiliary Charging Port ( above the motor ) , and the DigiNow controller?

Will do. My systen is in a plane. It will be a few days before i can get back to it but will do so then.

My understanding is that there were issues with 2.5 working with the Zero CAN so it was totally bypassed and a physical (safety) switch (there might be a resistor bridge involved in there too) is used to specify charging mode on the motorcycle system. The internal signal lines of the aux connector now only go that switch.

The CAN connectors are only from diginow box to the chargers.

Oop. I meant voltage divider not bridge.

That's correct,  so if you have V3.0, it doesn't have the Bluetooth feature anymore,  the only Diginow controller that can be adjusted by Bluetooth connection is the one that have the CAN connection to the CAN of the motorcycle. V3.0 isn't an upgrade, unfortunately.
If your system is in a plane, and your 240V connection,  at airport I will assume,  is only 30 amps, then you may look into connecting one of the chargers to the 240V outlet, and the other to an 120V outlet, if it's also available,  and get 32A+16A= 48 Amps of charging. But before doing that, you should check with someone from Diginow to see if it's ok to do so, otherwise you may damage the controller/chargers.

Yeah, unfortunately the V3 it was a reactionary attempt to keep the bikes from nuking the chargers and the control boards.

Your solution of plugging them both into different voltages should work; I don't know that I've ever tried it but I don't believe it would hurt anything.

Ouch. This is bad news for me.

I had an external 30amp, 240 volts circuit installed because my plan was to throttle the chargers slightly to fit. To use a separate 120 volt circuit, that would also have that installed. I believe that would have to be 20 amp circuit to avoid blowing a fuse at some point in the charging process. I think chargers were throttled to 13 amp to avoid overloading 15 amp circuits. So visiting other airports for recharging is problemmatic since I cannot use existing 120 volt, 15 amp circuits.

Hmm. Perhaps there is a way to get a separate 3rd party, controllable CAN controller to work with one of my Diginow (TK) chargers.

All the outlets, usually have a 20A breaker,  only the light bulbs are on a 15A breaker.  When connected to an 120V outlet the Diginow chargers are only drawing 16A , so as long as nothing else it's on the same breaker it's ok. If you can find two 120V outlets on separated breakers, then you can plug each charger in a different outlet, and charge at 32A, all you need is proper extension cables,  and make sure that the outlets are on different breakers.
Good luck.
